Description
Kirito Kazama is a pivotal character in Danbōru Senki W, serving as a primary rival to the main protagonist, Ban Yamano, and his friends. An eighteen-year-old with a distinct appearance, he has blond hair that often covers the left side of his face and notable red eyes. His typical attire consists of a long-sleeved, prison-like shirt marked with the number twenty-four, paired with red pants and black-and-white sneakers.

The driving force behind Kirito's actions is a deep personal tragedy. Before the events of the series, he had a girlfriend named Amy, who was killed in a traffic accident while he was on his way to meet her. Consumed by grief and desperation to bring her back, he created an android replica of Amy. However, the android lacked true human emotion, speaking and acting in a flat, robotic manner. This led him to accept an offer from a man named Alan Worthen to become a test player for Omega Dain. Worthen promised that the special LBX CPU he was developing, the Cyclops AI, could be used to give an android human emotions, giving Kirito a singular goal to perfect the AI for this purpose.

His personality is heavily shaped by this loss. While he may have once been kind and friendly, he became a loner, rarely addressing people by name and generally refusing any form of assistance in LBX battles, preferring to fight solo. He is portrayed as being very particular about his LBXs, refusing to use a machine unless he has assembled or customized it himself. Despite his solitary nature, he is also quite curious and a bit of a busybody, willing to dig into confidential information to further his understanding of a situation. Over the course of the story, his hard exterior begins to show cracks. Although he is initially offended if someone tries to help him, he does eventually show appreciation for assistance when he is truly overwhelmed, and he becomes more open and cooperative with the protagonists.

Kirito is an exceptionally skilled LBX player and a test pilot for Omega Dain, later affiliated with Tiny Orbit. He consistently seeks out strong opponents, viewing battles with the main characters as a way to help the Cyclops AI evolve. Throughout the series, he operates several customized LBX units, including the Deqoo OZ, Joker: Kirito Custom, Hakai-O: Kirito Custom, Fenrir Flare, and Crimson Emperor. His role in the story is that of a formidable and recurring antagonist who is not purely evil but is driven by his own desperate personal quest. He often disrupts the plans of both the heroes and other villainous factions to achieve his own ends, such as when he confronted the heroes in the Paradise arc to gather final data for the Cyclops AI. His personal journey reaches a critical point when, after successfully completing the Cyclops AI, he learns he was being manipulated, as the AI is incompatible with androids and cannot give his creation the emotions he so desperately seeks. This betrayal leads him to a moment of despair but also ultimately sets the stage for his eventual growth and shift away from being a solitary rival.
