Description
In the 2014 CGI film Saint Seiya: Legend of Sanctuary, Milo de Escorpión is the Gold Saint who guards the eighth temple of the Zodiac, the Scorpio Temple. Unlike the original manga and previous animated series, this reimagining changes Milo’s gender, presenting the character as a woman. She hails from Greece and is a warrior of noble bearing, strong intelligence, and unwavering loyalty to the goddess Athena.
Milo’s personality is marked by a fierce but controlled temperament, combined with a deep sense of righteousness. She takes great pride in being a Gold Saint and holds the honor of her rank and her fellow saints in high regard. Although she can appear stern and intense, her actions are driven by a genuine commitment to justice rather than cruelty. She is a capable and decisive fighter, preferring to act with precision and clarity.
Her motivation centers on protecting the Sanctuary and executing the will of Athena. She believes in order and discipline, initially opposing the Bronze Saints when they are branded as traitors by the false Pope. Once she recognizes the true nature of the situation, however, she realigns herself with the goddess and defends the cause of Athena without reservation.
Within the story of Legend of Sanctuary, Milo serves as one of the key obstacles during the assault on the twelve temples. She confronts the Bronze Saint Hyoga of Cygnus in a fierce battle that tests both warriors physically and emotionally. During the fight, she uses her ultimate technique and ultimately shows mercy when she perceives the sincerity of her opponent, allowing him to continue his mission. Later in the film, after the conflict with the false Pope is resolved, Milo joins the other Gold Saints in a united front against a colossal stone enemy that threatens the Sanctuary, demonstrating her willingness to cooperate with her peers for the greater good.
Milo has a notably close friendship with Camus of Aquarius, a bond built on mutual respect and shared values. This relationship influences her actions, especially in how she deals with Camus’s disciple, Hyoga. The film does not explore deep character development over a long arc, but Milo does show growth through her willingness to reconsider her allegiances and show compassion even to those she was ordered to destroy.
Her combat abilities are centered on the manipulation of the cosmos at light speed. Her signature technique, Scarlet Needle, uses her index finger like a stinger to strike at the fifteen star points on the opponent’s body, each corresponding to a star in the constellation Scorpius. Each strike inflicts excruciating pain and gradually shuts down the target’s senses and bodily functions. The final and most devastating strike is called Antares, which completes the sequence and is intended to be fatal. She also has a technique called Restriction, which can paralyze an enemy by attacking their central nervous system. In addition, she can unleash Scarlet Cyclone, a wide-area attack generated by the sheer physical power of her arm movements. Milo’s mastery of light-speed combat makes her a formidable opponent, capable of striking with incredible speed and accuracy.
