Description
Enen is a fairy character who appears as one of the main protagonists in the anime film Precure All Stars New Stage 2: Kokoro no Tomodachi. He is a student at the Fairy Academy, a school where fairies are trained to become future partners for the legendary warriors known as the Pretty Cure. Physically, Enen is a small, timid-looking fox with tan and beige fur, and he is often seen wearing a light blue hood.
His name is a Japanese onomatopoeia that means to cry out loud, which fittingly describes his sensitive and emotional nature. Enen is characterized by his extreme shyness and his tendency to cry or become frightened easily, often seeking to hide behind others for comfort. Despite his timidity, he holds a deep and earnest admiration for the Pretty Cure, dreaming of one day becoming a partner to one himself.
In the story, Enen is pressured into helping his fellow student, a more boisterous and jealous fairy named Gureru. After Gureru is tricked by a dark entity that emerges as his own shadow, named Grey, Enen is coerced into assisting their plot to lure the Pretty Cure to the academy, steal their transformation devices, and trap them. He is motivated less by malice and more by fear and an inability to stand up for himself, feeling he has no choice but to follow along. However, he quickly regrets his actions as he watches the Cures being turned into crystal statues. Before she is frozen, the Cure named Miyuki Hoshizora entrusts Enen with a critical mission: to find and ask the Doki Doki Pretty Cure team for help, giving him a purpose to overcome his fear.
Over the course of the film, Enen develops significantly. He begins as a passive and pressured participant but finds the courage to defy Grey and reveal the truth to the arriving Cures. His key relationships drive his growth, most notably with Gureru. Although Gureru often taunts and pressures him, Enen ultimately considers Gureru a true friend because Gureru was the first to take time to talk with him and make him laugh. This bond gives both of them the strength to resist Grey and fight to save their school. The older Pretty Cure, such as Cure Passion and Cure Beat, who were once enemies themselves, also encourage the two young fairies by teaching them that it is acceptable to express their feelings and make amends for their mistakes.
Enen does not possess any flashy combat abilities. Instead, his role is supportive. His notable actions include helping to locate the imprisoned fairies and the stolen transformation items. At the climax of the film, he, along with Gureru and the other fairy students, uses a Miracle Light to cheer on the Pretty Cure, giving them the energy and hope needed to defeat the villain. His courage to believe in his friends and the Cures proves to be his greatest strength. By the end of the movie, he is told by another fairy that if he continues to work hard, he may one day become a Pretty Cure partner himself, a goal he and Gureru set out to achieve.
