TV-Series
Description
Bungo Takano is a high school student and a member of the Black Children's Club, a group of young individuals who possess and wield powerful creatures known as dragon children. He has brown hair cut to ear-length and green eyes, and is often seen wearing a beret. Outwardly, he presents a cheerful, carefree, and sociable demeanor, often appearing kind and amiable in casual situations. However, beneath this friendly surface lies a much more calculating and ruthless individual. He is highly intelligent, possessing a cool-headed and logical mindset that allows him to make precise preparations and execute cruel actions without hesitation when pursuing his goals.
Bungo is driven by a deep and complex loyalty to his role within the Black Children's Club and to his leader, Naozumi Sudo. He respects Sudo and follows his plans with unwavering dedication, fully trusting his vision and carrying out orders with meticulous efficiency. His personal motivations are intertwined with his relationship with Satomi Ozawa, his childhood friend and lover. He is deeply affectionate and protective of her, providing a reliable source of strength and stability to counter her more emotional and childish behavior. A darker aspect of his personality is a paraphilia for amputees, which manifests in his youth when he borrowed a doll from Satomi and returned it with its ankle removed. This unusual interest is also reflected in the form of his own dragon child.
In the story, Bungo serves as a formidable antagonist and a key operator for the Black Children's Club. He is entrusted with supplying weapons to his comrades, crafting firearms including a handgun used by another member, a hobby that became much easier with the aid of his dragon child. He views violent confrontations, such as an attack on a plane piloted by the father of the protagonist Shiina Tamai, as necessary simulations to test his abilities and prepare for future battles. Unlike some of his sadistic peers, Bungo does not seek unnecessary killing; he prefers to use violence only when it serves a practical purpose for testing his dragon child or executing an operation.
His most significant relationship is with Satomi Ozawa. Their bond is central to his character, as he consistently shows her immense affection and care. He remains devoted to her even when she becomes incapacitated later in the story, protecting and embracing her without reservation. He also has a pragmatic but disapproving view of his colleague Tomonori Komori, whom he considers a heretic due to his lack of common sense. Upon first meeting the heroine Shiina Tamai, Bungo initially presents a kind and friendly face, but his expression hardens when he sees her confront Satomi, showing his protective instincts.
Throughout the narrative, Bungo undergoes a notable transformation. Initially, he has a mischievous and playful look, but around the midpoint of the story, his appearance changes drastically. He removes his beret, dyes his black hair back to its natural color, and styles it away from his face, which gives him a much colder and more inorganic impression. Bungo is the linker to a dragon child named Hainuuere, which takes the form of a naked, armless harpy-like being, reflecting his personal interests. This creature is considered one of the most powerful in the series, possessing unmatched aerial combat abilities and speed. Bungo has outfitted Hainuuere with all manner of heavy weaponry, including gatling guns, which he can use with great skill, making him a devastating force in the sky. Despite his formidable power, Hainuuere has relatively low durability. In the final battle, it is shattered by the fan blades of a jet fighter during a tenacious pursuit. The shock of this event causes Bungo's mind to collapse, leaving him in a vegetative state from which Satomi cares for him.
