Ivan Whisky, designated Cyborg 001, is one of the central protagonists from the 1966 anime film Cyborg 009 and its sequel, Cyborg 009 and the Monster Wars. Originally from Moscow, Russia, Ivan is a unique case among the nine cyborgs, having been transformed into a cybernetic being while still a very young infant, less than a year old.
His origin is rooted in tragedy. Born with a severe and unknown fatal illness, Ivan became the subject of desperate experimental brain enhancement procedures performed by his father, a brilliant but increasingly unstable brain surgeon named Dr. Gamo Whisky.
