Description
GunEagle is a state-of-the-art mobile defender developed by the S.D.G., the Super Dimensional Guard, specifically to protect the skies of Neotopia from aerial threats. As the third Neotopian Gundam to appear, he was created by Chief Engineer Kao Lyn to handle airborne enemies that the other members of the Gundam Force could not reach. His design is based on the RX-93 Nu Gundam and incorporates elements of the earlier SD Command Chronicles character Gun Eagle ν, whose personality traits were adapted for this incarnation.
Physically, GunEagle stands 152.11 centimeters tall and weighs 93 kilograms. His most defining feature is the Fin Glide Unit on his back, which grants him exceptional aerial maneuverability. He can lower his main wings to transform into a high-speed jet mode, achieving flight speeds exceeding Mach 2.8.
In terms of personality, GunEagle is young, self-confident, and openly cocky. He possesses a thick-skinned and showy nature, often taking great pride in his own high performance and abilities. While his heart is generally in the right place, his tendency to show off can lead him to make critical mistakes, paying the price for his overconfidence shortly after. He is also described as having a short temper.
GunEagle harbors a deep admiration for Captain Gundam, viewing him as a hero and an idol. This respect is so profound that he uses polite language exclusively when speaking to the Captain, a courtesy he rarely extends to others. Initially, this attitude leads him to look down upon the Lacroan knight Zero and the warrior Bakunetsumaru, viewing them with disdain as outsiders from other worlds. However, as the story progresses and he fights alongside them, these relationships develop into a strong and reliable friendship. He gets along well with his teammates in the Gundam Force, and he is willing to rush into danger without hesitation to complete his missions.
As the S.D.G.'s aerial combat specialist, GunEagle's role is to engage flying opponents and provide air support. He is a gifted dogfighter with genius-level skills in aerial combat. His arsenal is notably robust, featuring an Aerial Beam Rifle that boasts higher output than Captain Gundam's own rifle, as well as head-mounted vulcan guns, arm-mounted machine cannons, missiles housed on his wings, and standard beam sabers for close-quarters combat. His signature technique is the Aerial Stinger, a powerful diving charge performed in high-speed flight mode that can easily knock back machines larger than himself.
Throughout the story, GunEagle demonstrates significant development from a boastful and dismissive warrior into a dependable ally. His initial arrogance is tempered through his cooperative battles with Zero and Bakunetsumaru, particularly after receiving help from Zero during a crisis, which forces him to change his perspective. Despite being the only member of the Gundam Force who never receives reinforcement or upgrades, his natural combat ability and courage allow him to perform remarkably well in the final battle, where he proves himself more than a match for powerful enemies like the General Zeong, holding his own alongside his upgraded comrades.
