TV-Series
Description
Destroyer Dom serves as the Dark Axis weapons expert and is the third squad leader dispatched by Commander Sazabi to invade Neotopia. Before joining the Dark Axis campaign, he was known simply as Dom and was present as a spectator during the battle between Zapper Zaku and Solitary Gyan. During that early encounter, he commented on the rules of the match and watched as Zaku ultimately killed an opponent who had surrendered. Sometime later, Dom earned a commander fin, changed his name to Destroyer Dom, and built a reputation as a highly effective combatant with a nearly perfect record, though he was also known to become overly enthusiastic in battle.
Destroyer Dom is defined by a singular obsession with weapons and destructive firepower. He is not particularly intelligent, but compensates for this lack of intellect with an overwhelming arsenal and sheer destructive capability. Dom loves having new weapons to use and becomes visibly upset or panicked when he does not have any in his possession. This dependency on weaponry is severe enough that he suffers from genuine weapon withdrawal if left unarmed. Interestingly, his speech patterns degrade as the series progresses. Early on, he is capable of speaking in complete, coherent sentences, but over time his vocabulary deteriorates into more primitive, explosive exclamations. He is almost always accompanied by a large mobile weapons transport trailer called a Gallop, which contains a vast array of armaments for him to utilize in combat. His height is recorded as 164.35 centimeters.
In the story, Destroyer Dom is assigned as the new squad leader for Grappler Gouf and Zapper Zaku after their repeated failures. Neither of his new teammates is pleased with this arrangement, as both hold grudges against him from previous encounters. Destroyer Dom previously fried Grappler Gouf's mother board during a joint mission, and he damaged Zapper Zaku's device manager at some point. When they voice their objections, Dom promptly points two bazookas at them, immediately silencing their complaints. When not on missions, he is kept in reserve or effectively locked up due to his uncontrollable tendencies. His reputation among the Dark Axis forces is that he is extremely effective but dangerously unpredictable.
Destroyer Dom is a primary antagonist who leads multiple assaults against the Gundam Force. During his first major attack, he and his team arrive at the location where the Super Dimensional Guard is building a dimensional transport device. Without understanding what the device is, he immediately rushes to destroy it. In the ensuing battle, his chaotic fighting style proves as hazardous to his allies as to his enemies. He repeatedly loses track of his targets and accidentally shoots Zapper Zaku and Grappler Gouf. Losing his temper, he orders his Gallop to initiate Operation Wipe-out, firing at anything that moves, including his own side. This reckless approach culminates in the Final Operation, where the Gallop discharges all of its weapons simultaneously, causing massive damage to the dimensional transport device.
Throughout subsequent battles, Destroyer Dom continues to demonstrate his single-minded focus on destruction. On one occasion, he arrives near a cake factory and discovers that two Zakos have removed all the weapons from his Gallop to clean it. Furious, he punches the Zakos away and demands they find him new weapons. When they present a giant cake as a supposed weapon, Dom nonetheless arms himself with whatever he can find, even managing to steal Zero's Vatras Sword and equipping himself with numerous weapons supplied by a hijacked factory AI. He engages Zero in combat, firing rockets indiscriminately, and is only stopped when Captain Gundam intervenes and Zero destroys all of his weapons with the Lacroan Crescent. The shock of seeing his entire arsenal destroyed causes Dom to collapse.
Despite his abrasive and dangerous nature, Destroyer Dom does undergo some development. Commander Sazabi eventually forces him, Grappler Gouf, and Zapper Zaku to put aside their differences and work together as a team. They develop a combined ultimate technique called the Final Deadly Screaming Chaos Catastrophe, though the Gundam Force counters it with their own triple attack. Over time, Dom learns to cooperate with his former enemies, though his core personality remains that of a gleefully destructive warrior who simply wants to cause explosions and devastation. He once described his approach to combat by declaring that he wanted to start a destruction party.
Notable abilities include mastery of an extremely wide variety of weapons, from bazookas and missiles to captured swords like the Vatras Sword. He has immense physical strength, capable of punching Zakos great distances. His Gallop is itself a formidable weapon system, capable of unleashing full salvos of missiles and artillery fire. When outfitted with special equipment, Dom can operate underwater or in the air alongside his Gallop. He also possesses a surprising degree of durability, surviving numerous defeats and being blasted back through the Zakorello Gate on multiple occasions. His defining weakness, however, remains his psychological dependence on weaponry and his tendency to lose focus in chaotic combat situations.
