Description
Kazuki Sendo is the male protagonist of the story, a high school student who finds his life direction through the world of doujinshi. Initially, he is a young man with natural artistic talent but a lack of clear ambition or drive. After failing the entrance examinations for a proper art school, he ends up attending a local affiliated college, feeling somewhat adrift and aimless in his daily life. This all changes when he is forcibly introduced to the massive fan-made comic convention known as Comic Party by his eccentric and intense childhood friend, Taishi Kuhonbutsu.

In terms of personality, Kazuki is often described as apathetic at the start, showing little interest in his studies or his future. He is generally kind-hearted and possesses a surprisingly strong work ethic once he finds a passion to dedicate himself to. His encounter with the vibrant and energetic doujinshi community ignites a deep-seated desire to create, and his natural curiosity and dedication quickly emerge. While he tries to resist being completely swept up by Taishi's grand schemes, he often finds himself going along with them, demonstrating a passive but agreeable nature. His primary motivation evolves from merely following a friend to a genuine personal obsession. He becomes driven to improve his craft, express his own ideas, and succeed as a creator within the competitive world of fan comics.

Kazuki’s role in the story is that of the central creator. The narrative follows his journey from a complete novice to a more confident and established artist. He forms a doujinshi circle named Brother 2, with Taishi handling logistics while Kazuki focuses on creating the artwork. He navigates the many challenges of the subculture, such as meeting strict printing deadlines, experiencing the highs and lows of sales at conventions, and learning the importance of originality over simply imitating popular trends. Despite often being the calm center around which the more eccentric supporting characters orbit, his own struggles to balance his new passion with his personal relationships and academic life form the core of the drama.

His key relationship is with his childhood friend, Mizuki Takase. Mizuki is initially disapproving of his immersion into otaku culture, viewing it as a waste of his artistic talent and a threat to his future. This creates a significant source of tension, as her concern clashes with his newfound drive. Over time, she becomes a more supportive figure, though she remains determined to take care of him, believing he cannot properly care for himself. His other major relationship is with Taishi, whose over-the-top enthusiasm and grand plans are the catalyst for everything, even if Kazuki is often more of a bemused participant than a willing conspirator. Among his peers in the doujinshi world, he forms connections with a range of characters, including the shy and talented Aya Hasebe and the competitive and egotistical Eimi Ooba, each interaction helping him grow as an artist.

Throughout the story, Kazuki undergoes a significant development. He evolves from an insecure and directionless student into a determined and passionate artist who values creative integrity and community. He experiences the realities of the professional world, such as when he gets a taste of working for an animation studio or faces the pressure of a major sales competition for a chance to debut professionally. His journey is about perseverance and finding his own voice, culminating in a more mature understanding of his own abilities and the kind of artist he wants to be. As for notable abilities, Kazuki’s primary skill is, of course, his artistic talent, which he continuously hones through his work on doujinshi. The series also reveals a peculiar and unexpected mastery: he is exceptionally skilled at cross-dressing, able to perfectly disguise himself as a female character, much to the shock of those who discover his secret.
