Description
Minamoto no Yorihisa is a samurai in service of the imperial court and one of the eight guardians known as the Hachiyō, specifically the Seiryū of Heaven. He comes from a proud samurai lineage and was trained in swordsmanship from a very young age, making him a formidable opponent in battle. His older brother Sanehisa raised him, but Sanehisa died protecting a young lord during a mission, an event for which Yorihisa carries deep guilt because Sanehisa sacrificed himself to save his life. This guilt heavily shapes his personality and motivations. He is serious, disciplined, and taciturn, often speaking little but acting with unwavering dedication. He swears fealty to Akane Motomiya, the Dragon God Priestess, as his master and always follows her commands without question. His primary motivation is to protect Akane and the rest of the group, a duty he takes so seriously that he is willing to give his own life for them, especially for Akane, toward whom he feels a strong sense of obligation. In the story, he acts as both a bodyguard and a frontline fighter, using his sword skills and wind-based elemental abilities to combat the Oni clan and other threats. His dragon jewel, which marks his status as a guardian, is located on his left ear. Over the course of the narrative, his rigid sense of duty begins to soften as he grows more personally invested in those he protects, though his core loyalty and self-sacrificing nature remain constant.
