Uwe Thomsen is a German voice actor and stage actor, recognized for his extensive work in dubbing anime series and films. Born on July 6, 1983, in Rottweil, Baden-Württemberg, he developed an early interest in performance, participating in circus theater productions from the age of ten. He pursued formal training at the actors in motion drama school, completing his studies in 2006. His career has included significant stage work as an ensemble member with the JUNGES LANDESTHEATER BAYERN and, since 2016, the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich. In 2011, he also co-founded the Neue Bühne München, a company dedicated to Munich's independent theater scene.
Thomsen is best known for his voice work in anime, where he has lent his voice to a wide array of characters. He is most prominently recognized as the German voice of Roronoa Zoro in the long-running series One Piece, a role he has voiced since 2012, taking over from the previous actor. His portrayal of Zoro extends to numerous film adaptations, including One Piece Film: Gold, One Piece: Stampede, and One Piece Film: Red.
His other notable anime roles include the powerful and combative Brawler in Akudama Drive, the character Ashura Kokuhou in The Day I Became a God, Fennel in Deca-Dence, and Vary Truss in the Studio Trigger film Promare. Beyond these, his versatile voice can be heard in a variety of other projects, such as the role of Jotaro Kujo in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
In addition to his performance work, Thomsen also contributes to the dubbing process in other ways, having written the dialogue book for the 2018 film Overboard. His talent has been recognized within the industry, earning him a nomination for Best German Voice Actor at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in 2023 for his performance as Jotaro Kujo.
