Description
Minamoto no Yorihisa, one of the Eight Guardians designated as Seiryū of Heaven, stands sworn to defend the Priestess of the Dragon God. A samurai bound to the Imperial court, he embodies discipline and solemnity, governed by unyielding loyalty to his duties. His Wind elemental affinity is marked by a dragon jewel adorning his left ear, a testament to his bond with this force.

Originally tasked with safeguarding Princess Fuji, Yorihisa shifts his allegiance to Akane upon her summoning to the Heian period. His devotion to her protection borders on overprotectiveness, fueled by a self-critical nature and profound sense of responsibility. Though reserved, he forges a deepening connection with Akane, culminating in an unintended kiss during a vulnerable moment—an incident that sparks mutual romantic realization and shifts their relationship.

Yorihisa’s struggles lie in reconciling his rigid code of duty with burgeoning personal emotions. His methodical, stoic approach often clashes with fellow Guardian Tenma’s impulsiveness, underscoring their contrasting philosophies. While the anime’s OVA and film expand his narrative, they preserve his foundational traits of loyalty and unwavering resolve.

Across manga and drama CDs, his samurai heritage and evolving bond with Akane remain central. His journey traces a path from a warrior defined solely by obligation to one navigating the complexities of human emotion, yet his essence as an indomitable protector endures through every adaptation.
