Description
Kotaro is an effeminate young boy who belongs to the blue clan, a group whose abilities are tied to the power of desire. He is its strongest member, but his power is far beyond his control, leading to a life of forced confinement and a coma that lasted for four years. After awakening, he suffers from complete amnesia. To prevent his memories from returning and his dangerous power from erupting, a character named Liquid alters the spelling of his name from Kotaro to Rotaro. He is the younger brother of Shintaro, a figure from an earlier storyline, and arrives on Papuwa Island as a central protagonist of the events there.
Kotaro’s personality is marked by vanity and an air of entitlement. He considers himself delicate and cute, often looks down on others, and carries himself like a spoiled, pampered child. Despite his aloofness, he is not cruel, but his self-centered behavior frequently creates complications for those around him.
Because his memory is gone, Kotaro initially has no clear personal goal. His actions are driven by the simple need to adapt to the strange environment of the island and to interact with its eccentric inhabitants. This makes his journey one of gradual reintegration into a community and slow rediscovery of himself.
His key relationships include Liquid, who acts as a caretaker and deliberately changed his name; Papuwa, the energetic island boy who becomes a close companion; and the many peculiar residents of the island, such as Chappy. He also has a familial link to Shintaro, though his amnesia prevents him from recognizing this connection at first.
Over the course of the story, Kotaro begins to open up and form genuine bonds with the people of the island. The possibility of regaining his memories and learning to control his formidable power forms a recurring element in his development.
