Description
Kitri Parveneh, also known as Kitori Palvanaff, is a character introduced in the 2004 remake television series of Area 88. Her background is one of royal privilege and unexpected duty. She is the only daughter of the King of Asran and the cousin of Saki Vashtal, the commander of the mercenary airbase Area 88. Despite her royal lineage, she chooses to join the front lines, sent to the base to serve as a freelance pilot.

As a pilot, Kitri is notably confident, competitive, and self-assured, carrying herself with a boldness that allows her to live and fight alongside the male mercenaries as one of them. Her personality is often described as tomboyish, a trait that stems from her privileged but unconventional upbringing within the royal family. She arrives with a strong will and is not intimidated by the harsh environment or the dangerous nature of her work. Her primary motivation appears to be a desire to prove her own skill and worth as a fighter pilot, rather than hiding behind her royal status. She is driven by a strong sense of duty and a competitive spirit, quickly establishing herself as a formidable presence in the squadron.

In the story of the 2004 anime, Kitri serves as a key member of the Area 88 roster, adding a new dynamic to the base. She is the only female fighter pilot among the mercenaries, a position she handles with a mixture of pride and resilience. Her role often involves interacting with the other main pilots, and she quickly develops distinct relationships with each. She takes a particular liking to the youngest pilot, Kim Aba, finding his youth and position as a freelancer impressive, though she often expresses this through teasing. She is mystified by the cold and solitary demeanor of Shin Kazama, the protagonist, but the two remain on good terms, sharing a mutual respect for each other's abilities. She also finds the journalist Makoto Shinjou friendly and takes a liking to him. Notably, her presence is directly linked to the chain of command, as her cousin Saki is the base commander, a connection that adds an interesting layer to her position.

Throughout the series, Kitri shows signs of development, particularly in her relationships with her peers. Her initial teasing of Kim Aba gradually evolves into a genuine respect for his abilities as a pilot. Her competitive nature is not just for show; she is consistently portrayed as a highly capable combat aviator. Her notable abilities are clearly demonstrated in the air. Her kill record is ranked third within Area 88, a testament to her exceptional skill and putting her just behind top aces like Shin Kazama and Micky Simon. She flies a distinctive Mirage F1 fighter jet, which features her personal emblem of three red arrows against a red bow, and she proves her courage and capability in critical missions, such as defending the base from an enemy bomber squadron.
