Description
Lacus Clyne is a central character from the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED animated series, including its compilation film Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Special Edition. She is the daughter of Siegel Clyne, the former Chairman of the PLANT Supreme Council, and belongs to the second generation of genetically enhanced humans known as Coordinators. Later revelations identify her as an Accord, a rare subtype of Coordinator with latent psychic abilities. Lacus is introduced as a popular vocalist and idol, widely celebrated as PLANT's First Songstress, and is often accompanied by a small spherical robot companion named Haro.
Her personality is outwardly gentle, warm, and pacifistic, displaying empathy even toward her enemies. Later, after Kira is gravely wounded, Lacus nurses him back to health and helps him acquire the prototype mobile suit ZGMF-X10A Freedom. This act brands her and her father as traitors, leading to her father's death and Lacus's subsequent escape aboard the warship Eternal. She then becomes the leader of the Three Ships Alliance, a neutral third force composed of the Eternal, the Archangel, and the Orb vessel Kusanagi, dedicated to halting both the Earth Alliance and ZAFT.
In the sequel series Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, which is also included in the Special Edition re-releases, Lacus lives in seclusion with Kira. After an assassination attempt, she re-emerges to counter the political machinations of Chairman Durandal. She reveals that a body double, Meer Campbell, had been impersonating her, then supplies new mobile suits to Kira and Athrun and leads the Terminal organization in a final battle to prevent the implementation of the Destiny Plan.
