Shou Bun Kun, also known as Lord Changwen and originally named Mǐ Diān, stands as a key political figure in Qin, holding the position of Chancellor of the Left and serving as a senior adviser to King Ei Sei. His career began as a skilled military commander under King Sho, where he fought alongside legendary generals like Ou Ki and Kyou. He commanded a specialized 100-man unit executing high-risk missions, a concept later inspiring Ou Ki's formation of a similar unit for Shin.
Retiring from active combat, he transitioned into politics, rising through the civil ranks to his current high office. Deep loyalty to Ei Sei, whom he taught during the king's youth, defines his service. This loyalty often manifests as extreme caution for the king's safety, exemplified by his use of a body double during the Sei Kyou Rebellion to ensure Ei Sei's escape.
A versatile warrior, he wields swords, glaives, and bows with proficiency. Despite his age, he retains significant combat skills, having personally instructed Ei Sei in swordsmanship. His extensive frontline experience grants considerable tactical expertise, evidenced by his role as one of four strategists in the Gyou campaign tactical headquarters and his command of Sai's west wall defense during the Coalition Invasion. Statistically, his political acumen (politics: 94–96) surpasses his military leadership (command: 85–87), while his intelligence remains consistently high (90–92).
Significant political achievements include resolving Qin's chronic flood issues by endorsing engineer Tei Koku's project in 243 BC and his appointment as Chancellor of the Left in 239 BC. He displays emotional depth, weeping upon learning of Kou's pregnancy with Ei Sei's child, and moments of humility, such as bowing to Ri Shi to request help drafting unification laws.
Through conflicts like the State of Ai rebellion and the Western Zhao Invasion, Shou Bun Kun remains a stabilizing force within Qin's government, balancing his military background with political pragmatism.
