Description
Itsuki Mitsutagawa, a second-year student at Shadowverse Battle College, leads the Seventh Flame club facing shutdown after all members quit following a conflict with First Reaper. While distributing recruitment flyers, he meets Light Tenryu, who pledges to help revive the club. Light and Subaru Makabe join Seventh Flame the next day, initiating its rebuilding.

Gentle and empathetic, Itsuki shows consistent kindness and compassion. He holds a deep appreciation for flowers and aesthetic beauty, guiding his card choices and deck design. This preference caused childhood isolation as peers rejected his interests. Initially believing he needed to change, Itsuki instead found confidence through Shadowverse, embracing his authentic self as strength. His resolve crystallizes confronting Tatsumi Raido, who challenges Seventh Flame for admitting Ren Kazamatsuri. Recognizing parallels between Ren's struggles and his own past rejection, Itsuki battles Tatsumi. Criticized for weakness, Itsuki wins by affirming his commitment to authenticity, securing Ren's place.

Standing 156 cm tall and weighing 51 kg, Itsuki has blue eyes and short pink hair, often styled with twin ahoge. He typically wears a hoodie. He wields a Forestcraft deck featuring effects that return cards to hand. This strategy synergizes with followers like Slade, Blossoming Wolf, and Cosmos Fang to enable one-turn knockout combinations, later augmented by Feral Awakening. The deck's aesthetic emphasis frequently causes others to mistake Itsuki for female, though it remains a core expression of his identity. A vulnerability exists against boards with large followers, as his removal options are situational or costly; for example, Cosmos Fang's evolve effect only returns followers with three or less defense.

Itsuki trains rigorously at Shadowverse Stadium preparing for Mikado Shirogane's tournament, where Seventh Flame faces expulsion if defeated. Near a riverbank, he encounters Ryoga Jasei, a Bloodcraft player. Their ideological clash over Digital Friends escalates into a match, which Itsuki loses. He later defeats Ryoga in a tournament rematch by empowering Cosmos Fang with Feral Awakening, earning Ryoga's respect. During the Shadowverse World Ranking, Itsuki receives a distress call via Ryoga, leading him to aid the unconscious player. He subsequently cares for Ryoga until recovery.

After Ryoga's recovery, Itsuki faces Luca Yonazuki of the Seven Shadows. Though intimidated, he agrees to battle but loses decisively. Recognizing Luca's lack of serious effort, Itsuki resolves to strengthen himself. In their second battle within the Shadow Area, Itsuki exerts his full capabilities yet loses again. Luca acknowledges his growth, and Itsuki cedes a subsequent battle opportunity to Mikado, hoping it aids Mikado's personal conflict. During the World Ranking's final day, Itsuki and Subaru defeat Ko Hebigami and Zuo Onizuka, securing fourth and sixth places respectively.

Assigned to deactivate Gaia Tower during Genesis Corporation's Shade invasion, Itsuki partners with Subaru. They confront Erde in a 2 vs. 1 battle where damage depletes life-force. Incapacitated by Erde's tactics, their Digital Friends Slade and Baccherus shield them from a fatal attack. This act renews their resolve, evolving Slade into Blossoming Storm and Baccherus into Grand Ghostie. Their empowered bond enables victory, collapsing the tower. Later, Itsuki supports Light during the decisive battle against Wolfram Zerga. When Light activates Proof of Truth's effect, shared bonds summon Itsuki and other allies to clear a path for Light's final strike. After Wolfram's defeat, Itsuki agrees to Arc Ruler's offer to erase public memory of their world-saving actions, believing only participants need retain the experience.

Itsuki's Digital Friend is Slade, who evolves into Blossoming Storm during critical battles. His relationships include Light Tenryu and Subaru Makabe as founding Seventh Flame allies, Ren Kazamatsuri as a kindred spirit, Ryoga Jasei as an initial rival turned mutual respect, and Luca Yonazuki as a formidable opponent who acknowledges his growth.
