Description
Atelia is a prominent character from the magical realm, distinguished by her long, flowing blonde hair and blue eyes. She is an adult witch who initially holds the position of one of the Three Sages, the ruling council of the Witch Realm, and is the warden in charge of District A and its holding facility for magical creatures.

Her background is deeply tied to a forbidden romance. More than fourteen years before the main events of the story, Atelia was a skilled soldier. During a raid in the Wizard Kingdom to retrieve a powerful artifact, she rescued a human man named Jidan from prison. The two fell in love and secretly lived together, eventually having a son named Lennon. This relationship was strictly against the laws of the witches, who forbid unions with humans, forcing the family to keep their existence a secret.

As a personality, Atelia is defined by her formal and dignified demeanor. She is a stoic and capable leader who is greatly respected by her people, but her commitment to tradition and the protection of her society often leads her to employ morally ambiguous methods. She tends to prioritize the stability of the witch community over individual happiness, even when it comes to her own family. For instance, to prevent panic and unrest, she chooses to conceal the truth about a magical plague from her citizens, instead blaming an external enemy. Despite her composed exterior, she harbors deep personal pain. For years, she has secretly mourned the loss of her husband and son, keeping a portrait of them that she quietly cries over when alone.

Atelia's primary motivation throughout much of the story is her sense of duty as the successor to the Grand Master of Witches. She is bound by The Chains of Commanding, believing that her responsibility to protect magic and tradition outweighs any personal desire. However, her interactions with the young human protagonist, Arusu, slowly challenge this worldview. Arusu’s insistence that magic should only be used for happiness and that a mother must protect her son no matter what forces Atelia to confront her own sacrifices.

This internal conflict comes to a head when her long-lost son, Lennon, is taken hostage. Initially, Atelia refuses to intervene, citing her duty to uphold witch law. But ultimately, she chooses her family over her position. She publicly confesses to her forbidden marriage, knowing that her people will label her a traitor, and offers herself in exchange for her son’s freedom. This act of sacrifice marks the culmination of her character development, as she moves from a leader constrained by tradition to a mother who prioritizes love and personal happiness. In her final moments, she uses her remaining powers to project a dream to Arusu, delivering one last message about the true nature of magic.

In terms of abilities, Atelia is an exceptionally powerful and skilled witch. Before becoming a sage, she was an Action Girl who fought effectively on the front lines as a soldier, wielding a magic staff in combat. She also possesses the rare ability to send dreams across distances, using her magic to communicate with others after she has been physically incapacitated.
