Kure is a yakuza member who dies under unspecified circumstances and finds himself transported to an alternate world. There, he forms a partnership with Kagetora, a divine beast with both human and tiger traits. Their relationship becomes a narrative focus in the series' second and seventh mini-anime seasons. Kure and Kagetora also appear alongside the main couple, Nagi and Kotone, in the eighth season.
