Takuya Eguchi
Description
Takuya Eguchi is a Japanese voice actor and singer born on May 22, 1987, in Tokyo, Japan, though he was raised in Ibaraki Prefecture. He is affiliated with the talent agency 81 Produce and stands at a height of 189 cm. Eguchi graduated from the Nihon Kogakuin College and successfully passed the first 81 Audition in 2007, making his debut as a voice actor in 2008.
Eguchi's interest in becoming a voice actor sparked during his second year of high school. While studying one night, he happened to hear a radio program hosted by voice actor Masaya Onosaka and found it entertaining. His passion for anime, manga, and video games, combined with this inspiration, led him to pursue a career in voice acting.
His first major leading role came in 2011 when he voiced Kazuya Kujo in the anime series Gosick. This was followed by a string of other lead performances, including Yoshiharu Sagara in The Ambition of Oda Nobuna, Kon Hokaze in Ixion Saga DT, and Hachiman Hikigaya in My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, a role he would reprise across multiple seasons. He also voiced Asemu Asuno in Mobile Suit Gundam AGE, Takeo Gōda in My Love Story!!, and Yuuji Terushima in Haikyū!!.
The year 2012 was significant for Eguchi, as he won the Best New Actor Award at the 6th Seiyu Awards. His performance as Hachiman Hikigaya continued to earn him recognition, and in 2015, he won the Best Voice Actor award at the Newtype Anime Awards. His career reached new heights with the role of Loid Forger in the massively popular series Spy×Family, for which he won the Best Lead Actor Award and the Most Valuable Seiyū Award at the 17th Seiyu Awards in 2023.
Beyond his work in Spy×Family, Eguchi has an extensive and varied filmography. He has voiced Sōei in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Akihiko Kaji in Given, Julius Euclius in Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- and its spin-off Isekai Quartet, and Nagi Rokuya in the IDOLiSH7 franchise. He is also known for roles such as Shuji Hanma in Tokyo Revengers, Domas in Ranking of Kings, and Dot Barrett in Mashle: Magic and Muscles. His work spans multiple installments of the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise, including roles as Yuro Gōha and Yuulo in Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens and as Zwijo in Yu-Gi-Oh! Go Rush!!.
In addition to his voice acting, Eguchi is active as a singer. He is a member of the musical unit Trignal, formed with Ryōhei Kimura and Tsubasa Yonaga in 2011 under the Kiramune label. In 2017, he also launched a manga series based on his life titled Eguchi Takuya no Gainen Planet.
