Description
Tenma Sumeragi leads the Summer Troupe of the Mankai Company. Born to acclaimed actor parents, he started as a child prodigy in film, growing up immersed in the entertainment world. This environment honed his significant talent but also implanted a deep fear of live performance, where mistakes cannot be edited, stemming from a traumatic childhood incident during a school play. Witnessing the Spring Troupe's "Romeo and Julius" performance motivated him to audition for Mankai, seeing it as a path to confront his fear of tarnishing his family's legacy.

Initially characterized by arrogance and a self-proclaimed "oresama" attitude, Tenma displayed supreme confidence in his acting abilities. This attitude historically prevented him from forming friendships, leaving him largely friendless before joining Mankai. His leadership role within the Summer Troupe, however, catalyzed gradual personal growth. While retaining his competitive spirit and blunt demeanor—especially evident in his critical rehearsal feedback—he developed greater humility and understanding towards his troupe members. This evolution reveals his underlying tsundere nature; beneath a prickly exterior lies genuine care for his troupe's well-being and a strong desire to see them improve, a tendency others note as masking concern with harshness or sarcasm.

His development prominently features overcoming his fear of live theater. Through dedicated effort within Mankai's supportive environment, he successfully performs on stage, solidifying his growth. Experiences like temporarily leading the Spring Troupe during an exchange event further challenged him, exposing him to different dynamics and highlighting the exhausting yet rewarding chaos of leading his own Summer Troupe. This underscored his adaptability and the mutual respect developing with other leaders like Sakuya Sakuma, whom he deeply respects for his work ethic.

Tenma shares Room 201 with fellow Summer Troupe member Yuki Rurikawa. Their relationship is marked by frequent bickering and Yuki's sharp nicknames (like "Hack"), coexisting with underlying camaraderie forged through shared responsibilities. He harbors a competitive rivalry with experienced stage actor Tasuku Takato, viewing him as a benchmark for his own growth. Bonds form over shared interests like gardening and bonsai pruning with Tsumugi Tsukioka, and a surprising connection with Misumi Ikaruga, who finds Tenma reminiscent of his brother Madoka due to shared prodigious talent and initially aloof yet caring natures. He demonstrates a fondness for cats, contrasting his cool image, and exhibits a notable lack of direction, often getting lost within the Mankai dormitories.

Key trivia includes his birthday on June 21st, coinciding with the summer solstice and Litha celebrations, reflecting his Summer Troupe association. His motif flower is the sunflower. He attends Ouka High School alongside Taichi Nanao and Juza Hyodo. He dislikes most vegetables, except carrot cake, and possesses a skill for crying on command. An incident on a troupe trip to New York highlighted his poor English comprehension and lingering anxiety when he mistakenly believed he was being followed; it turned out to be a director interested in casting him for resembling a character from a low-budget superhero series. He sang the Summer Troupe's character songs "Natsu no Dilemma" and "Sunflowers," and participated in the main theme "MANKAI☆Kaika Sengen" alongside other troupe leaders. He views the Mankai Company as the place that taught him the appeal of theater.
