Description
Kon Hokaze is the protagonist of the story, a high school student whose life revolves around video games. He is transported from his ordinary world into the fantasy realm of Mira after accepting a request from a female character in an online game. This abrupt transition leaves him stranded with no clear way home. His role in the narrative is that of a reluctant hero, pulled into a political conflict involving the princess Ecarlate, whom he accidentally saves upon his arrival. He agrees to travel with her group largely out of circumstance rather than loyalty, hoping the journey will lead him to answers about returning home.
His personality is heavily defined by pragmatism and a cynical worldview that contrasts sharply with the typical heroic ideals of the fantasy world. He is blunt, unfiltered, and deeply lazy when it comes to matters he sees as unnecessary. He suffers from homesickness and openly complains about his situation, lacking the selfless dedication of a traditional adventurer. In combat, he has no interest in honor or fair play; he frequently resorts to underhanded, cheap shots to end fights quickly, viewing victory by any means as preferable to a risky battle. This fighting style creates a personal and absurd rivalry with the antagonist Erecpyle Dukakis, who becomes obsessed with revenge after a particularly damaging cheap shot.
Despite his reluctance to fight, Kon possesses significant natural talent. He is identified as a Hyperion, a rare human capable of wielding Alma energy directly without artificial aid. His primary tool is the Alma Gear, a weapon that can transform from a standard sword into a giant mechanical hammer with jet boosters. His gamer instincts and quick adaptation to the rules of this new world often serve him better than brute strength.
Kon holds a unique position within the main party. He does not respect the social hierarchy of Mira, often treating Princess Ecarlate with a casual irreverence that shocks her other guardians. He serves as a comedic foil to her bodyguards, Mariandale and Sainglain, whose extreme dedication he finds excessive and ridiculous. Over the course of the journey, Kon does not undergo a dramatic transformation into a selfless hero. Instead, his development is defined by his continued reliance on his wit and selfish logic, navigating the dangers of Mira by maintaining his outsider perspective and gaming mindset to survive in a world he never wanted to join.
