Description
Zuwijo Zwil Velgear hails from the Velgearian Star Cluster, where he commanded authority as a high-ranking military officer and mentor to Yudias Velgear. Initially portrayed as a courageous leader valuing battlefield unity and tactical intellect, his worldview shattered upon uncovering the Velgearians’ engineered origins as pawns in a cosmic war orchestrated by higher beings. This revelation fueled his ruthless pursuit to end the conflict through Rush Dueling and Earthdama’s power, clashing with Yudias’ pacifist approach.
After staging his demise in battle, he infiltrated Earth to merge Rush Duels with Earthdama’s energy, weaponizing both. He orchestrated schemes through subordinates like Terza Flatwood and Chupataro Kaburagi to challenge Yudias and seize Earthdama, later unleashing its destructive force via tangible duel monsters. While his demeanor hardened, fleeting mercy surfaced—sparing Yuhi Ohdo’s soul mid-duel and later reviving a weakened Yudias.
A turning point emerged after his second defeat by Yudias, gradually aligning him with the latter’s philosophy of peaceful resolution. By the series’ second season, he adopted cooperative strategies, joining forces with former rivals like Dinois Velgear and prioritizing Velgearian welfare through collaboration over command—a shift echoing Yudias’ ideals.
Zuwijo shifts between two guises: a Galaxy Form marked by wild blonde-purple hair, crimson facial markings, and militaristic garb, and a human disguise as an unassuming baker clad in muted attire. His name, rooted in "Zuijin" (Shinto guardian deities), mirrors his dual role as strategic enforcer and ideological counterpoint to Yudias.
His duels against Yudias became ideological arenas, pivotal defeats in episodes 12–13 and a reconciliation clash in episodes 49–51 steering his evolution. Subsequent losses cemented his role within the protagonists’ coalition, culminating in joint missions against interdimensional threats. His final arc saw him combating such perils alongside Yudias, completing his metamorphosis from foe to ally.
