Description
Asemu Asuno is the central character of the second generation in the story, born in A.G. 123 as the son of Flit Asuno and Emily Asuno. He has a younger sister named Yunoa and grows up in the shadow of his father, a celebrated hero and commander in the Earth Federation Forces. From a young age, Asemu shows a strong aptitude for mechanical design and piloting, winning the junior robot competition on two occasions.

In terms of personality, Asemu is generally friendly and outgoing, but he can also be rebellious and prone to taking reckless, heroic actions without fully considering the risks to himself or others. He takes friendship very seriously and values loyalty, once standing up to military police who accused his close friend Zeheart Galette of being a spy. However, his most defining personal struggle is his relationship with his father. While Flit was close to Asemu during his childhood, his duties as a commander caused him to grow distant from the family. As the son of a genius, much is expected of Asemu, even though he lacks his father's natural intellect and special X-Rounder abilities. This situation creates a deep-seated need for paternal approval and a complex about living up to the Asuno name.

Asemu inherits the AGE Device from his father on his seventeenth birthday and first pilots the Gundam AGE-1 to defend the colony Tordia from an attack by the Vagans. His motivations are initially driven by a desire to protect those close to him and to prove himself worthy of his father's legacy. He eventually enlists in the Earth Federation military and becomes the pilot of the new AGE-2 Gundam as a member of the Woolf team aboard the battleship Diva.

A pivotal part of Asemu's journey is his rivalry with Zeheart Galette, a former best friend from school who is revealed to be a Vagan soldier. This betrayal is devastating to Asemu, and his subsequent battles with Zeheart become a personal obsession. He grows envious of Zeheart and his father for their powerful X-Rounder abilities, which allow them to sense and predict enemy movements, a gift Asemu does not possess. After a series of defeats, he becomes desperate to obtain this power, even going so far as to use dangerous, unauthorized equipment. However, under the guidance of his mentor, the ace pilot Woolf Enneacle, Asemu learns to focus on honing his own natural skills rather than chasing an ability he does not have. Woolf encourages him to become a "super pilot" through discipline and training, which allows Asemu to mature, gain confidence, and eventually defeat powerful X-Rounder enemies on his own merit.

Asemu's key relationships define his arc. His bond with Woolf Enneacle is one of respect and mentorship, and after Woolf is killed in battle, Asemu honors his legacy by adopting his white pilot suit and painting his Gundam all-white. His relationship with Romary Stone, a female classmate, evolves from friendship to marriage, and they eventually have a son named Kio. After a mission against a massive mobile armor where his Gundam is heavily damaged and he is reported missing in action, Asemu resurfaces years later as the leader of a space pirate group called Bisidian, using the alias Captain Ash. As this older, more hardened version of himself, he tests his own son Kio's abilities in battle and continues to fight against corruption within the Earth Federation, ultimately clashing with his father's increasingly rigid ideology.

In terms of abilities, Asemu is a highly proficient mobile suit pilot, demonstrating talent in both ranged combat and hand-to-hand fighting. His signature fighting style often involves using two beam sabers simultaneously. He pilots several iterations of the Gundam, including the standard AGE-2 Normal, the heavily armed AGE-2 Double Bullet, and later the customized, close-combat focused AGE-2 Dark Hound, which is equipped with a DODS Lancer spear and an anchor shot that can deliver a high-voltage shock. Even without the benefit of X-Rounder abilities, his relentless training and combat experience allow him to match and even defeat some of the most powerful X-Rounder pilots in the series, proving that skill and determination can overcome natural talent.
