Description
Tsuzuru Saikawa, a Class 2-B high school student renowned for his popularity and frequent romantic confessions from peers, develops an unexpected fixation on Keigo Sayama after a clumsy stairway collision and a subsequent infirmary encounter where he removes Sayama’s mask. These incidents ignite a contentious dynamic, prompting Tsuzuru to propose tutoring sessions in exchange for unrestricted access to Sayama’s face—a demand met with resistance due to Sayama’s aversion to physical contact.

Raised by his father following his parents’ divorce at age five, Tsuzuru adopted forced smiles to mask emotional turmoil, a habit born from underlying complexity. He balances part-time work at a café with his ex-girlfriend, Riko Yoshida, school responsibilities like supporting Yoshida’s student council campaign, and committee duties during a senior trip.

Outwardly charismatic and tenacious, Tsuzuru’s layered psyche emerges through interactions with Sayama, shifting from assertive curiosity to genuine care. His evolving bond with Sayama transitions from playful harassment to mutual understanding and affection, marked by academic support and encouragement for Sayama’s social engagement.

With black hair, blue eyes, and a practiced cheerful facade, Tsuzuru’s journey traces a path from superficial charm to profound emotional growth. His story intertwines internal struggles—reconciling manufactured smiles with authentic feelings—and external pressures, navigating fractured relationships, academic obligations, and the delicate balance between personal desires and others’ boundaries.
