Description
Croquette is the main protagonist of the anime Croquette!. He is a young and scrappy Banker, part of a group of individuals who travel the world collecting magical coins known as Kinkas. The ultimate goal for any Banker is to gather enough of these coins to summon the Bank Wizard, a powerful entity capable of granting any single wish.
Croquette’s background is deeply tied to his family legacy. He is the son of a legendary Banker named Burger. This connection to a powerful father sets a high standard for him and defines his primary motivation. His most driving wish, the one he hopes the Bank Wizard will fulfill, is to revive his deceased father, who was reportedly killed by a villain Croquette knows only as the Black Gown Man.
In terms of personality, Croquette is defined by his incredible strength and bravery, often charging headfirst into dangerous situations. He is portrayed as a determined and resilient fighter, undaunted by the many rivals and threats he encounters. His appearance is distinctive: a small boy with purple hair who carries a heavy hammer as his primary weapon. He is almost never seen without his companion, Menchi, a small, sentient, pig-shaped Kinka bank that is held together with tape and nails and often rides atop Croquette’s helmet.
The central role Croquette plays in the story revolves around a major tournament called the Banker Survival Quest. This event takes place on the treacherous Macadamia Island, with the winner receiving enough Kinkas to fill the largest Kinka Bank, bringing them one step closer to their wish. Croquette enters this competition, leading him to battle against a wide variety of rivals, both friendly and malevolent. Throughout the quest, he also uncovers a dangerous threat that connects his own past with the other competitors.
Key relationships in Croquette’s life include his rivalry and camaraderie with other Bankers. Among them are Risotto, the prince of the Grand Chef Kingdom; Pudding Pudding, a masked individual from a village known for its beauty; and Worcester, an anthropomorphic cat Banker who desires popularity. However, his most significant relationship is with his late father, whose shadow looms large over his entire journey and whose revival is his ultimate goal.
Regarding his development, Croquette starts as a strong and motivated fighter, but his journey through the Banker Survival Quest tests his abilities and resolve. He encounters a conspiracy that forces him to look beyond his personal quest for revenge and face a larger danger. His notable abilities are rooted in his raw, superhuman physical strength, which he channels through his signature heavy hammer in combat. This fighting style, combined with his unwavering determination, makes him a formidable opponent in the world of Kinka-hunting Bankers.
