Description
Meredy is a central protagonist in Tales of Eternia, a sixteen-year-old girl from the world of Celestia. She hails from Imen, known as the city of Craymels, and is classified as a Craymel Engineer, a specialized magic user who commands elemental spirits called Craymels. Meredy is always accompanied by her small, energetic pet creature named Quickie, a name given to it by Reid Hershel based on the sounds it makes.

Meredy's background is marked by tragedy and a complicated family history. She was loved and cared for by her parents as a child, but her father, Balir, became a tyrant who murdered the reigning king of Celestia, and her mother, Shizel, was later possessed by the god of destruction, Nereid, and used as a testing tool for a dark polar light art. Meredy lost her father in the tragedy of Luisica, and this family turmoil deeply shapes her journey.

Her personality is primarily cheerful and optimistic, with a happy-go-lucky demeanor. She is known to spontaneously break into dance, which reflects her carefree nature. At the same time, she possesses a quiet, determined resolve when faced with adversity. Meredy is deeply empathetic and often acts as a mediator within her group, seeking harmony and avoiding conflict. She can be introspective and relies on a strong inner sense of values, which guides her actions and decisions.

Initially, Meredy speaks a language called Melnics, which is foreign to the people of Inferia, making communication difficult at the start of the story. The main narrative is set in motion when she crash-lands on Inferia in an unknown aircraft, meeting Reid Hershel, Farah Oersted, and Keele Zeibel. Her arrival and the mystery surrounding her origins lead the group across a dimensional boundary to Celestia, where they become entangled in an ancient conflict between the two worlds and the impending cataclysm known as the Grand Fall. Meredy's primary motivation is to prevent this disaster and to confront the lingering pain of her family's past, ultimately seeking to protect the worlds and the people she comes to care for.

Key relationships define her character arc. Her bond with Quickie is constant and affectionate. She quickly becomes a cherished member of the main group, with Reid, Farah, and Keele becoming her closest allies and friends. Her relationship with her mother, Shizel, is particularly poignant, as Meredy remembers her as once kind and loving and struggles to reconcile that memory with the person Shizel has become.

Meredy's notable abilities come from her mastery of Craymel magic. She can perform fringing, offensive spellcasting, and summoning of powerful entities. Her combat style also involves using whistles to command Quickie in battle, allowing for long-range attacks. If she obtains a special item, she can control Quickie more precisely while defending or casting spells, making her a formidable stand-alone combatant. Her proficiency in Melnics also allows her to read the ancient language of her world at certain points, serving as a key to unlocking deeper lore. Over the course of the story, Meredy grows from a mysterious outsider into a determined and integral member of the team, facing her past and embracing her role in saving both Inferia and Celestia.
