Description
Dicky is one of the five core members of the team that operates the giant robot Balatack. Of the group, which also includes Yuji, Yuri, Franco, and Mack, Dicky is distinguished as the short-tempered and physically strong member. His designated costume color within the team is orange. He is also sometimes referred to as Dickey.
Dicky, along with his companions Yuri, Franco, and Mack, was a young psychic undergoing training at a secret base before the series' central conflict began. These four individuals, possessing extrasensory perception (ESP) powers such as telepathy, were already operating as a unit before they recruited Yuji, the professor's son, to complete their five-person squad. His core motivation, shared with the entire team, is to oppose the alien forces that have kidnapped the family of Professor Kato, the scientist who created their technology.
In the story, each of the five teenagers pilots an individual spacecraft. These separate vehicles combine to form the larger ship called the Pentagunus or Pentagoras, from which they control the giant robot Balatack using their collective psychic abilities. Dicky's specific role is not as the leader—that position belongs to Yuji, the professor's son and the main protagonist. Instead, he functions as the team's powerhouse, contributing his unique mental energy to the group's combined strength and serving as a brawler-type member whose temperament matches his physical prowess.
Specific information regarding a detailed character arc or personal growth for Dicky is not documented in available sources, although the series broadly emphasizes the theme that the team must remain united, as any separation weakens them and leads to failure. His key relationships are therefore primarily defined by his membership in the core group; he is a trusted and integral comrade to Yuji, the brainy long-haired Mack, the youngest member Franco, and the sole female member Yuri. He has no notable individual relationships outside of this central team dynamic. His notable abilities include his latent ESP powers, which are the source of his ability to help control the giant robot, and his personal trait of being notably strong and aggressive compared to his teammates.
