Description
Breston is a supporting antagonist in M.D. Geist II - Death Force, serving as the personal physician to the powerful warlord Krauser. He is also the creator of the experimental ESI units and acts as Krauser's caretaker, holding a position of scientific authority within the fortress. More significantly, Breston is revealed to be the original scientist behind the Most Dangerous Soldier project, the program that engineered both the protagonist Geist and his rival Krauser into ultimate biological war machines.
As the architect of the MDS program, Breston is deeply invested in his creations, viewing them as scientific achievements to be studied and controlled rather than as autonomous individuals. His primary motivation throughout the story is to recapture Geist, whom he considers a rogue asset and a subject of immense scientific interest. While Krauser has established a fortress as a sanctuary for human survivors against the robotic Death Force, Breston remains focused on his own agenda. He uses his authority to dispatch his cyborg minion, Eagle, on a mission to hunt down and capture Geist, bringing him back to the fortress for examination.
His key relationship is with Krauser, whom he serves directly, as well as with Eagle, his cyborg subordinate. However, his true allegiance is to his research and the legacy of the MDS project. Breston's role in the story is primarily as a catalyst for the central conflict. By successfully capturing Geist and bringing him inside the supposedly safe confines of Krauser's fortress, he inadvertently unleashes chaos. Once inside the laboratory, Geist breaks free from his restraints, murders Breston, and destroys the laboratory, which marks the beginning of his rampage through the stronghold.
In terms of abilities, Breston is not a front-line fighter. His strengths lie in his scientific and technical genius, specifically in genetic engineering, cybernetics, and robotics. He is responsible for the creation of the Most Dangerous Soldiers and has the technical expertise to command cyborgs like Eagle. His notable achievement mentioned in the narrative is the creation of the ESI device, a piece of technology capable of masking human life signs from the deadly Death Force robots. Breston does not undergo significant character development; he remains a static figure of mad science whose relentless pursuit of Geist leads directly to his own demise. His death serves as a plot device to unleash Geist and remove the figure who could potentially explain or control the supersoldiers.
