Description
Ohri is a young sorceress who serves as the female lead of the anime Gestalt. She comes from the forbidden island known as G, the same island where the banished god Gestalt is said to have taken refuge, and she is making her way back to her homeland when she crosses paths with Father Olivier. At their first meeting, she appears to be an innocent and somewhat helpless young girl with pink hair, and she is under a silence spell that prevents her from speaking. Because of this restriction, she is initially unable to express herself with words and can only make simple vocal noises, which makes her seem far less capable than she truly is. Her name is sometimes romanized as Ouri in various materials.
In reality, Ohri is a highly accomplished and powerful magic user. Her magical abilities are considerable enough that even an experienced dark elf hired to bring Olivier back to his order is no match for her, and she easily drives off this pursuer so that she and Olivier can continue their journey. Her power is described as sealed at the beginning of the story, meaning that the full extent of her abilities emerges gradually rather than all at once, but even in her restricted state she proves to be a decisive force in the dangers they face.
Personality-wise, Ohri presents a strong contrast to her initial impression. Once her voice is restored, she proves to be outspoken, blunt, and unafraid to criticize her companion, openly mocking Olivier's way of thinking and telling him that his approach is flawed. She carries herself with self-assurance and confidence in her magical skill, and she does not hesitate to take action when trouble arises. Her primary motivation is to return home to the island of G, and since Olivier is heading toward the same destination, the two agree to travel together. Her connection to the island also makes her a valuable guide, as she has knowledge of the place that Olivier lacks.
Her relationship with Olivier forms the emotional center of the story. The two are described as complementing each other, with each one compensating for the other's shortcomings. Where Olivier is an idealistic and sometimes naïve priest seeking the truth behind the island and his faith, Ohri is pragmatic and forceful, using her magic to handle threats that he cannot overcome on his own. Their contrasting temperaments create friction between them, but they also build a strong partnership, and the two grow more dependent on each other as their journey becomes more dangerous.
Her development across the anime centers on the revelation of her true nature. She begins as a seemingly mute and powerless girl and is gradually revealed to be a formidable sorceress whose silence was the result of a magical constraint. The recovery of her voice marks a turning point, allowing her to take part in the story not as a passive companion but as an active and decisive presence. Over the course of the two-episode story, her arc moves from apparent victim to powerful magic user, and from silent stranger to trusted partner, defining her role as Olivier's ally in uncovering the secrets of the island. Her most notable abilities are her sorcery and magical incantations, which she uses both defensively and offensively, and her strength is such that she can dispatch trained adversaries with little difficulty once she is able to act freely.
