Description
Kiki Rosita is a supporting character from the jungles of Southeast Asia, where she serves as a frontline commander for a local anti-Zeon guerrilla resistance. Born in the year UC 0062, she is a teenager during the One Year War, stepping into this leadership role after her father, the group's leader named Baresto Rosita, is injured. Although she is technically a civilian, her village has been forced to take up arms for self-defense and survival amidst the surrounding conflict, and despite her youth, she is a capable fighter who commands a group of rugged men.

Kiki has a personality that is cheerful, energetic, and spirited, with a distinctly tomboyish nature that lacks conventional gracefulness. She is also strong-willed, a quality her father admires, as he once witnessed her bravely face down a Zeon mobile suit. Beneath this tough exterior, she possesses a strong maternal and caring side, showing great kindness to the weak and a sensitive consideration for the pain of others. Her warm gaze toward the village children is particularly notable, and she acts as a good big sister to them. Her background as a fighter has also made her seasoned and resilient for her age.

Kiki's initial motivation is simply to protect her village and resist the Zeon forces that occupy the area. She holds a natural disdain for both the Earth Federation and Zeon armies for continuing their troublesome war. Her perspective shifts upon meeting Shiro Amada, a Federation mobile suit pilot. Their first encounter is unconventional: Shiro stumbles upon her while she is bathing in her favorite watering hole, and she chases him away with her gun. They later cross paths again, and Kiki, using the advantage of her youthful appearance to be underestimated, helps capture Shiro and bring him back to her village. However, she is attracted to his frankness and lack of arrogance, traits uncommon among soldiers, and it is she who proposes trusting him when he offers a partnership to liberate the area from Zeon. From that point on, she becomes a supporter and intermediary for the 08th MS Team, coordinating support and providing communication between the Federation mobile suit unit and her guerrilla fighters. Throughout the story, she maintains a mild infatuation with Shiro, though her intelligence leads her to realize from the beginning that his heart belongs to another woman, which helps her keep her own feelings unconfessed.

Her relationships are central to her character arc. Her bond with Shiro Amada is the most significant, as her actions are largely taken for his sake after being drawn to his straightforward nature. She also shares a deep bond with her father, Baresto, the village leader. This relationship comes to a tragic end when a trio of desperate Zeon soldiers arrive at the village. During the tense encounter, one of the soldiers assaults Kiki, provoking the guerrillas to open fire. Kiki manages to escape, but the ensuing battle leaves all other combatants dead, including her father. This event leaves her broken and grief-stricken, and she subsequently retires from fighting to help rebuild her village, saying a tearful goodbye to Shiro and thanking him for his help.

Kiki shows notable development from a spirited guerrilla fighter to a more somber young woman shaped by loss. However, her resilience and caring nature remain. After the One Year War ends, she refuses to accept the official report that Shiro is missing in action and presumed dead. Demonstrating her persistent hope and loyalty, she joins her friend Michel Ninorich in a search for him. The duo eventually locates Shiro and an pregnant Aina Sahalin living in a secluded log cabin deep in the mountains. Although deeply distraught to see Shiro in a relationship with another woman, she is ultimately happy to see him alive and well. In the compilation film Miller's Report, her role is consistent with the original story; she is shown searching for Shiro post-war and helping to calm a group of war orphans during the search, demonstrating her innate ability to connect with and care for children. Her notable abilities include her skills in reconnaissance, intelligence gathering, and her capacity to lead and inspire her fellow guerrillas despite her young age.

It is worth noting that a novelization of the story presents a significantly darker and different fate for Kiki, which is not part of the main animated continuity.
