Born on Mars to a family of researchers, Akito Tenkawa lost his parents in an explosion and survived the Jovian invasion of Mars by unconsciously performing a Boson Jump, an instantaneous teleportation that carried him to Earth. He grew up alongside his future wife, Yurika Misumaru. His true dream was to become a chef, but he was forced to pilot Aestivalis combat robots due to his nanomachine implant and his natural talent. Initially a kind, introverted, and reluctant young man with a deep love for the classic super robot anime Gekiganger 3, he eventually achieved his cooking dream, opened a ramen restaurant, and married Yurika. Shortly after their wedding, the couple was abducted in a staged accident by an organization called the Martian Successors. During his captivity, Akito was subjected to horrific experiments that destroyed his sense of taste and altered his body so that his nanomachines cause him to glow when his emotions are heightened. Rescued but broken, he became a grim, revenge-driven figure known as the Prince of Darkness, piloting a powerful black Aestivalis unit called the Black Sarena alongside a stoic partner, Lapis Lazuli, whose own lost senses complement his damaged ones. He conducted lightning-fast raids on his captors, ultimately rescuing Yurika, after which he disappeared, leaving his fate ambiguous. Akito is a Class-A Boson Jumper capable of interplanetary teleportation and a highly skilled Aestivalis pilot.
