TV-Series
Description
Misora Tsukishima is one of the three main characters in the series. She is an eight-year-old girl who serves as the Second-Lieutenant of the Air Defense Force, tasked with protecting Japan from aerial threats. Misora has long blue hair, often seen with a cerulean headband, and brown eyes. Her appearance includes a school uniform and a blue clover-shaped pin that allows her to transform into her defender outfit. When transformed, she gains a pair of white-feathered wings on her back, enabling her to fly, glide, or hover. She also pilots a small toy airplane named Hayate to carry out her airborne missions.
Misora comes from a family of diplomats; both of her parents are frequently away on assignments, so she lives with her grandfather, who is the head of the Air Defense Force. This upbringing instills in her a sense of responsibility and maturity, though she remains a friendly and supportive child. She is sympathetic and kind, often offering encouragement to her teammate Mao Onigawara. Misora's speech is marked by a polite verbal tic, ending her sentences with "arimasu," which is commonly translated as "don'tcha know" or "if you please" in English.
Her primary motivation is to fulfill her duty as a defender of Japan alongside her friends, Mao and Sylvia Maruyama. The three girls form the core team, each representing a different branch of the defense forces. Misora's role is to handle airborne aliens and to provide aerial support during joint operations. She participates in the United Defense Barrier technique, a three-person maneuver that uses the Light of Kusanagi channeled through double-ended batons to contain and neutralize alien threats.
Misora's abilities are granted by her Type-2 Flight Gear, which gives her the power of flight and the use of a baton for combat. Her transformed state does not significantly enhance her physical strength but allows for mobility and teamwork. Over the course of the series, she works closely with Mao and Sylvia, learning to cooperate despite the occasional rivalry between their respective grandfathers. While the series does not feature extensive personal growth for Misora, she consistently demonstrates loyalty, composure, and a willingness to protect others.
