Description
Dr. Mantaro Takeshi, often referred to simply as Dr. Go, is a scientist and the primary antagonist of the series. His most defining ambition is to conquer the world, and his primary method for achieving this goal involves building a feline army. To that end, he creates the Nyan Nyan Army, a group of cyborg cats led by his trusted right-hand man, Mi-kun, whom he has known for a long time. Dr. Go himself has a distinct, rotund physical appearance, with a body shape that is often described as resembling an egg. His full name is confirmed as Mantaro Takeshi, though he is most commonly known by his villainous alias, Dr. Go.
In terms of personality, Dr. Go initially embodies the role of a classic, if somewhat inept, would-be world conqueror. He builds robots and cyborgs to do his bidding, with his most significant creation being the transformation of an ordinary black cat, Kuro, into a powerful cyborg. His plan backfires spectacularly when Kuro rebels against his programming and refuses to be a tool for world domination. Instead of serving Dr. Go, Kuro becomes his greatest obstacle, routinely destroying his schemes and his robot army.
Despite his recurring role as a villain, Dr. Go is not a one-dimensional character. Over the course of the story, he becomes noticeably more mellow and his ambitions are frequently thwarted with comedic results. His dedication to conquest remains, but his execution becomes less effective and his role shifts somewhat towards that of an anti-hero, often having to deal with the consequences of his own failed plans. His primary motivation, world conquest, is thus a constant but often undercut by his lack of productivity and the constant interference from Kuro.
