Tōru Furusawa

Tōru Furusawa is a Japanese voice actor, stage actor, and theatre director born on August 3, 1962, in Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture. He graduated in political science from Meiji University and began his career in the performing arts after training at the Seinenza Actor's Studio. Over the decades, he has been affiliated with several talent agencies, including Production Baobab and Kenyu Office, before establishing his own agency, Low Notes Agency. In 2021, he officially changed the kanji of his stage name from 徹 to 融. Beyond voice acting, Furusawa leads his own theatre troupe, Rlung Wind, and has developed a vocal training methodology known as the Furusawa Method.
Furusawa’s voice acting career spans a wide range of anime series, video games, and dubbing projects. He is recognized for a deep and versatile vocal range that has allowed him to portray both mature, serious characters and memorable villains. His extensive anime filmography includes many notable roles. He played Hayato Nangō in Shinkai no Kantai - Submarine 707 and Ingram Plisken in Super Robot Wars OG: Divine Wars as well as the Super Robot Wars video game series. He voiced Jirō Shinkun in Monkey Magic and Dr. Mantaro Takeshi in Cyborg Kuro-chan. In the X franchise, he portrayed Seishirō Sakurazuka, and in Initial D, he played the character known as Papa. His role as Inspector Wong appears in Kurau: Phantom Memory, and he voiced Akira Amamiya in ef: a tale of melodies. One of his most iconic roles is Millions Knives in the original Trigun anime series. He is also well known for playing Nakago in Fushigi Yugi, Rick Hudson in Nessa no Ha-ō Gandalla, and Michale Howard in Speed Racer X. In the mecha genre, he portrayed the titular character Deckerd (also known as J-Decker) in The Brave Police J-Decker. Additional credits include Ryūsuke Shiraishi in Class Reunion, Matsuo in Android Ana Maico 2010, Odin in Chiisana Kyojin Microman, and Razor in Hunter X Hunter: G I Final. Other significant anime roles include Yoshiyuki Terada in the first season of Cardcaptor Sakura, Tadao Hiiragi in Lucky Star, Zabimaru in Bleach, and Fukai in Naruto Shippuden.
