Description
Masami Oyamada is a main character in the anime Someday's Dreamers. He is an adult male professional mage living and working in Tokyo. He has black hair cut to neck length and gray eyes, and he is often seen wearing a dress shirt. Oyamada owns and manages a bar, and he also serves as a landlord for the building where his apprentice stays. He is characterized by a calm and composed exterior, which conceals a tragic past. This past affects him deeply, causing him to look sad whenever he uses his magical abilities. Despite this underlying sorrow, he is regarded as charming and handsome. Oyamada is a licensed mage employed by the Bureau of Magic, the government organization that regulates the use of magic in society. His primary role in the story is that of a mentor and teacher. He takes on Yume Kikuchi, a seventeen-year-old student from the countryside, as his apprentice during her summer break in Tokyo. Under his guidance, Yume undergoes trials and tribulations as she works toward becoming a full-fledged mage. Oyamada instructs her in the responsible use of magic and helps her navigate the challenges of the licensing process. His relationship with Yume is central to the narrative; he is not only her teacher but also her landlord, and a strong undercurrent of unspoken romantic tension exists between them, though it is never resolved. Through his interactions with Yume, Oyamada's own development is hinted at, particularly as his past and the emotional weight he carries become more apparent. His notable ability is his proficiency in magic as a professional mage, and his knowledge and experience are essential to Yume's growth.
