Description
Ōjirō Ōtori emerged from poverty, sharing a childhood bond with Kazuki Aoyama before both were abducted by Tenshin Otori, the self-proclaimed king of Neo Tokyo. Tenshin sought an heir strong enough to dominate Japan through Extreme Baseball (XB), subjecting Ōjirō to brutal conditioning that instilled a philosophy valuing strength above all else. This upbringing culminated in Ōjirō brutally defeating Kazuki in an XB match, shattering his arm, and officially becoming Tenshin's heir.
As leader of the Chiyoda Tribe, Ōjirō journeyed across Japan, challenging and forcibly disbanding rival Tribes through violent XB matches, often leaving opponents near death. Discovering Tenshin's plot to cheat by disabling Judge Robots and assassinate Kazuki, Ōjirō killed him, declaring himself Neo Tokyo's new king. He enacted the lethal "New XB Law," permitting deadly violence during games and causing widespread casualties, believing this necessary to crown an "absolute victor."
During the final XB match against Minato Tribe, Ōjirō faced Haru, Taiga, and Kazuki. When his banished secretary, Yui Kamiki, sabotaged the floating arena, Ōjirō continued playing amidst the collapsing structure. Kazuki saved him from a speeding train, reigniting memories of their childhood camaraderie and the joy they once found in XB. Ōjirō then partnered with Kazuki against Haru and Taiga, smiling as he rediscovered the sport's inherent fun. Defeated by Minato Tribe, both Ōjirō and Kazuki were buried under debris, their survival initially unknown.
Ōjirō later resurfaced with amnesia under the alias "Q," traveling with Kazuki in the resistance group Trash Tribe. Haunted by fragmented memories of his past sins, he sought atonement, believing his strength should protect others rather than inflict harm. He feared rats, enjoyed stargazing and muscle training, and wore an outfit chosen by Kazuki. Despite his quiet demeanor, he remained a formidable fighter, utilizing accumulated "Fighting Will" in battles.
Q confronted his identity upon learning of his past as the tyrannical king. While he initially accepted his role in Trash Tribe, the antagonist Zero forcibly reverted him to a near-amnesiac state, erasing his development and memories of Kazuki. This left him disconnected from his sins and relationships, symbolizing a cyclical struggle between redemption and oblivion.
Physically, Ōjirō stands approximately 192 cm tall and weighs around 78–87 kg. He bats left-handed, a skill adopted to emulate Kazuki despite being naturally right-handed. His signature mask, resembling a samurai *menpō* with metallic teeth, symbolized intimidation and authority during his reign.
