Description
Gredora is a prominent antagonist in the Cardfight!! Vanguard GZ storyline, known as the queen and mother of the insect-themed Megacolony clan from the planet Cray. Her authority is absolute, and she views all the mutants and machines within her domain as her cherished children, with the powerful warrior Darkface serving as her most trusted subordinate. As one of the Apostles, a group of Diffriders serving the deity of destruction Gyze, her ultimate goal is distinct from her master's. While she aligns herself with the plan to free Gyze, her true aspiration is to use the god's destructive power to bring about an apocalypse, after which she intends to eliminate Gyze and the other Apostles, ruling the resulting wasteland as a new paradise for her Megacolony offspring.
True to her regal status, Gredora consistently carries herself with an elegant and unshakeable composure, rarely showing signs of panic or distress. Her maternal instincts are genuine and profound; she openly shows affection to her subordinates, offering comforting words and physical gestures of care. When Darkface is driven to the brink of defeat and his creation, the soul prison Relics, is compromised, she swears revenge on those responsible, demonstrating that her maternal love extends to a fierce protectiveness. Her sense of judgment is remarkably fair, extending even to her enemies. She openly praises opponents who display unwavering conviction, such as Katsuragi Kamui and Arata Nishizawa, for staying true to their paths during battle. Conversely, she has no tolerance for those she deems lacking in character among her own ranks, actively seeking to expel the chaotic and misanthropic Chaos Breaker from the Apostles.
Gredora is a Diffrider, a being from Planet Cray who possesses a human host on Earth, her vessel being a man named Gaily Kurt. In the narrative, she descends upon Hong Kong to personally oversee operations after the failures of her subordinates. Her personal motivations drive several key confrontations. Seeking vengeance for Darkface, she targets the fighters who defeated him. She first battles Arata Nishizawa, acknowledging the purity of his feelings for a friend while also deeming him immature for losing focus on his opponent. Her most significant relationship forms with Katsuragi Kamui, whom she engages in a card fight. Intensely impressed by his strength and capacity, she develops a unique interest in him, not as a partner in the emotional sense, but as a strong male to be consumed for the purpose of producing powerful offspring to further her race after the coming destruction. Kamui refuses her proposal, and she is ultimately defeated in their match.
During her fight with Kamui, she wields the Zeroth Dragon of the Death Garden, Zoa. This formidable power comes with a severe consequence: defeat while using Zoa results in all of her other G-Units being consumed by green flames and destroyed. Upon her loss to Kamui, this fate befalls her deck, and her Diffride is forcibly undone, resulting in her spirit being sent back to the planet Cray. Throughout the series, Gredora views her fellow Apostles not as comrades but as disposable tools for mutual manipulation, with her only genuine loyalty reserved for her own clan. Her role is that of a cunning, powerful, and matriarchal antagonist with a grand, selfish ambition to reshape the world solely for the benefit of her brood.
