Description
Christopher Rowe is a character from the anime Cardfight!! Vanguard GZ. He serves as a member of Team SIT Genius, the Singapore representative team in the VF Circuit. Known by his nickname Chris, he acts as the leader of his three-person team and is a formidable fighter who has claimed the position of school champion for three consecutive seasons.
In terms of personality, Rowe is characterized by a provocative and taunting demeanor. His speech and attitude are naturally inclined towards provocation, a trait he shares with a teammate. This behavior intensifies significantly after he awakens to a special ability, leading to further discord and tension within his own team.
His role in the story becomes prominent during the Singapore Stage of the VF Circuit. In the third round, he is pitted against the legendary fighter Aichi Sendou. During this fight, the antagonist Takuto Tatsunagi intervenes, which triggers the awakening of Rowe's latent abilities. This awakening allows him to easily overcome Sendou, who hesitates to use his own similar powers. Rowe later progresses to the finals of the Singapore stage, where he defeats Kenji Kamitsudo.
Christopher Rowe’s primary motivation is rooted in competition and victory. He is a driven and highly skilled cardfighter who does not shy away from using his newfound power to dismantle opponents, regardless of their reputation. His awakening does not create a moral dilemma for him; instead, he embraces the power and uses it without reservation to win.
A key relationship in his early story is his rivalry with Aichi Sendou, whom he surpasses. His dynamic with his own team is strained, as his sharp tongue and awakened powers create an inharmonious atmosphere. Later in the series, during the GIRS Crisis arc, Rowe reappears having undergone significant development. He has aged into a young adult and grown in stature. He now runs a major technology corporation called Genius Communication Technology, having become its president. In this new role, he is responsible for the development of the Fighter’s Card, a new type of card issued by the普及協会 (Promotion Association) that becomes standard from the fifth season onward.
Notable abilities include his use of a specific card fighting deck. Rowe is a user of the Great Nature clan, a nation of scholar beasts. His strategy revolves around his ace card, School Hunter, Leopald, which he rides into battle with a specific chant. His most significant power is the awakening of PSY Qualia, a mystical ability that enhances a fighter’s skills and connection to their cards, giving him a decisive edge in his matches.
