Description
Arata Nishizawa is a character introduced in the Cardfight!! Vanguard G: NEXT season and continues to appear in the subsequent Cardfight!! Vanguard GZ. He is a middle school student of second-year age and a member of a team called Team New Nippon. Arata has a fair-skinned appearance with distinctly spiky red hair and gold eyes. His typical outfit consists of a sleeveless black shirt worn under a sleeveless orange vest with light-orange trim, paired with brown trousers and grey boots, along with two black wristbands.

Arata possesses a bright and passionate personality, often acting as a spirited and energetic individual. Despite his enthusiastic demeanor, he is also described as being polite and respectful toward others. His primary motivation in the series stems from his deep admiration for Rive Shindou, the former leader of the legendary team known as Team Nippon. Arata holds a strong desire to make the name Team New Nippon famous, striving to emulate the legacy of the team he respects. This admiration is particularly significant as he is initially unaware that Rive Shindou is still alive.

In the story, Arata forms a team with Makoto Asada and Noa Hoshizaki to compete in the U20 Championship tournament. His role expands further in Cardfight!! Vanguard GZ, where he becomes involved in the larger conflict against the Apostles, who wield the power of the Zeroth Dragons. During this season, he and his teammates are shown reuniting and engaging in battles against powerful foes such as Gredora.

Arata shares key relationships with his two primary teammates. Makoto Asada and Noa Hoshizaki are his close comrades, and together they form the core of Team New Nippon. He also shares a significant dynamic with Chrono Shindou, whom he views as a rival and a target to defeat, largely due to Chrono being the son of his idol, Rive Shindou. Their competitive relationship is highlighted by their early fight in the U20 championship, where, despite using a disruptive strategy, Arata loses to Chrono, leading to a mutual respect and a promise to battle again.

Throughout his appearances, Arata experiences development as a fighter. He begins with a record that includes losses to Chrono Shindou and flashbacks of defeats by his own teammates, Makoto Asada and Noa Hoshizaki. However, by the events of GZ, he is actively participating in high-stakes battles alongside veteran fighters, indicating his growth and increased capability in the face of world-threatening dangers.

In terms of notable abilities as a cardfighter, Arata uses a deck centered around the Tachikaze clan. His strategy focuses on the Gaia series, utilizing a playstyle that involves retiring his own rear-guards to power up his units. His main avatar card is the powerful Gaia Emperor, and his deck includes key units such as Baby Camara, Savage King, and Savage Guardian.
