Description
Miranda is a minor character in the Castlevania animated series, appearing in its third season. She is an elderly woman who lives alone in a remote, ruined village that has been ravaged by a powerful sorcerer known as the Magician. Miranda was once a Devil Forgemaster, a practitioner of the dark art of creating night creatures, but her magical power has significantly diminished with age. Despite this decline, she retains enough residual strength to resist the Magician's mind-controlling sorcery, which has enslaved everyone else in her community. Unable to defeat the Magician herself or free her neighbors, she has resigned herself to a solitary existence in her hut, waiting for the day her protection finally fails or death claims her.

When Isaac, another Devil Forgemaster, passes through her devastated lands during his quest for revenge, Miranda recognizes him as a fellow practitioner and approaches him with kindness. She explains the situation and directs Isaac to the Magician's tower, informing him of a valuable artifact held there. While her words are helpful, her demeanor carries an undercurrent of subtle manipulation, as she is effectively using Isaac as a tool to eliminate the threat she cannot handle on her own. Her role in the story is brief but pivotal; she serves as a guide and catalyst, pointing Isaac toward his next confrontation and reinforcing the rarity and isolation of Forgemasters in the world. Miranda's primary motivation is survival in the face of encroaching doom, and her decision to aid Isaac stems from a pragmatic hope that he can succeed where she cannot.

Miranda is portrayed as wizened, weathered, and perceptive, with a quiet, maternal authority. She carries the weight of her lost power and her lost community with resignation rather than bitterness. Her key relationship is with Isaac, whom she treats with a familiar respect born of shared discipline. She shows no hostility toward him, only a calm acknowledgment of their common past and the dangerous path he walks. Her development is minimal due to her limited screen time, but she leaves a clear impression of a once-potent figure now living in the twilight of her abilities. Her notable abilities include her surviving remnants of Forgemaster magic, which afford her a degree of immunity to mental domination and allow her to recognize and converse with another practitioner. She also possesses knowledge of local magical threats and artifacts, which she imparts to Isaac before he departs. Her lasting narrative function is to expand the lore of Devil Forgemasters beyond the series' main pair, suggesting that such individuals, while rare, are not unique and that their histories can be found scattered across the continent.
