Description
Misaki Tanaka is the adopted daughter of Jiro Tanaka and serves as his assistant in his revenge-for-hire operation, which operates in the underworld of Hakata. She appears to be an ordinary grade-school girl, but beneath that unassuming exterior lies a key figure in the city's underground network. Misaki endured a traumatic past of abuse at the hands of her step-father before being taken in by Jiro. This history of suffering has shaped her personality; she is highly perceptive about emotional pain in others and can recognize when someone carries the same frightened, abused child that she used to be. Her motivations are closely tied to her work with Jiro, helping to carry out revenge jobs against those who have caused harm. In the story, Misaki appears alongside Jiro in the early episodes, notably during a case of mistaken identity involving a hitman named Saito, where she and Jiro kidnap him believing he is a student target. Her role is that of a supporting character who provides both practical assistance and emotional depth, often understanding the psychological damage of others because of her own background. Her key relationship is with her foster father Jiro, who rescued her from her abusive home and gave her a place in his business. She also displays a unique ability to perceive and connect with damaged personalities, recognizing when someone has multiple personas and showing compassion toward the vulnerable part of them. Throughout the series, her development is subtle but consistent, as she learns to navigate the harsh world of Hakata's underground while retaining her capacity for empathy. Her notable abilities include acting as a capable helper in the revenge service, reading people's psychological states, and moving unnoticed in the city's criminal circles due to her childlike appearance.
