Description
Baron Ashura is a composite being, a tragic fusion of two distinct individuals into a single, horrifying form. The male half constitutes the left side of this entity, representing one part of a pair of lovers from ancient times whose forbidden relationship led to a grim punishment. They were mummified and buried alive, and when their tomb was discovered centuries later by the mad scientist Dr. Hell, their bodies were found to be damaged by a cave collapse. The man's right side and the woman's left side had been crushed, so Dr. Hell performed a macabre surgical procedure, sewing the remaining halves together to create a new lifeform he named Baron Ashura.

The male half of Baron Ashura is characterized by a gruff, authoritative voice and a domineering, aggressive demeanor. This side often emerges when Ashura is acting as a commander, issuing orders to subordinates like the Iron Mask Corps, or when engaging in direct combat. The personality of the fused being is a volatile mix of unwavering loyalty and arrogant overconfidence. Baron Ashura is furiously dedicated to Dr. Hell, viewing him as a savior who gave them a second chance at existence, and they are driven by a desperate need to never disappoint their master. This devotion often clashes with a tactical arrogance that leads to underestimating the enemy, particularly the super-robot Mazinger Z, which results in repeated failures.

Dr. Hell is the central figure in Baron Ashura's existence, and their primary motivation is to serve his grand ambitions of world conquest. They repay their resurrection with absolute fealty, often using their more submissive feminine voice when addressing him. This loyalty is fiercely competitive, especially when Dr. Hell introduces Count Brocken as another lieutenant. Ashura views Brocken as a rival for their master's favor, leading to constant bickering and sabotage between the two, though a grudging mutual respect occasionally surfaces.

In the film Mazinger Z: Infinity, Baron Ashura returns as a significant antagonist decades after their apparent demise. They are resurrected alongside Dr. Hell and his forces, piloting a massive Mechanical Beast built in their own image. Their role in the story is to spearhead the attack on the Photonic Power Laboratory's global facilities. Ashura commands a rebuilt army of Mechanical Beasts in an assault on the Texas Photonic Power Plant, successfully overwhelming the defending robot, Great Mazinger, and destroying the plant, which causes a continent-wide blackout. Later, in the final confrontation, Baron Ashura, in their personal Mechanical Beast, engages the newly refurbished Mazinger Z in a decisive battle, ultimately being destroyed by Koji Kabuto's final attacks.

Baron Ashura possesses several notable abilities. They are a skilled tactician, capable of commanding legions of Mechanical Beasts and the Iron Mask Corps in complex operations, though their overconfidence can undermine their strategies. Their primary tool is the Bardos Wand, a rod capable of emitting rays that can control any machine with an artificial brain circuit, including Mechanical Beasts, as well as fire non-lethal energy beams. Ashura is also a master of disguise and manipulation, able to infiltrate enemy facilities or incite public opinion against their foes. In the Infinity film, Baron Ashura pilots a formidable Mechanical Beast modeled after themselves, which is equipped with powerful weapons and can even separate its two halves in battle to evade attacks.
