Description
Lance is the deuteragonist of the anime Puzzle & Dragons X. He is a young dragonoid with silver hair, yellow eyes, and a fair complexion. He is typically seen wearing a blue cape and a matching blue hat, and he often goes barefoot. His accessories include a silver armband and a silver bracelet. As a dragonoid, he is a member of a race that can see and manipulate the mysterious spherical objects known as Drops, allowing him to become a Dragon Caller and form bonds with Monsters.

Lance's early life was marked by tragedy. When he was a child, his home village was destroyed and his parents were killed during a catastrophic Drop Impact. After this event, he was taken in and raised under the care of both Devi and the Guild, and he was later adopted by Vahaton, a powerful figure who recognized his potential and selected him to become a Dragon Caller. This traumatic loss and his subsequent upbringing have deeply shaped his worldview and his motivations.

Lance is driven by a strong belief that only dragonoids are capable of saving the planet from the ongoing crisis of Drop Impacts. This conviction leads him to be somewhat aloof and competitive, especially early in the series, as he views dragonoids as superior to humans in their ability to connect with Drops and control Monsters. He is a skilled and confident Dragon Caller who takes his duties very seriously, often coming across as serious and determined. Despite his sometimes arrogant exterior, he is capable of deep care and loyalty, especially toward those he comes to trust.

In the story, Lance serves as a key figure and a rival to the protagonist, Ace. The two initially do not get along, with Ace finding Lance to be a show-off, but they develop a mutual respect over time as they work together to uncover the cause of the Drop Impacts and protect the world. Lance's belief that dragonoids are the sole saviors of the planet puts him in conflict with humans, including Ace, who believe that both races can coexist and work together. Throughout the series, Lance gradually begins to question and soften his rigid stance, learning from his experiences with Ace and his other allies.

His key relationships include his strong bond with his adoptive father, Vahaton, who mentored him and shaped his path as a Dragon Caller. He also shares a significant connection with Devi, who helped raise him after the destruction of his village. The most transformative relationship in his life is with Ace. Initially a rival, Ace becomes a close friend and partner, and their dynamic challenges Lance's beliefs about the superiority of dragonoids and pushes him toward personal growth.

Lance's character develops considerably over the course of the series. He begins as a proud and somewhat isolated figure who holds tightly to the belief that dragonoids must be the ones to save the world. Through his interactions with Ace and other human Dragon Callers, as well as the larger threats they face together, he learns to accept help, reconsider his prejudices, and open himself to the idea that humans and dragonoids can stand as equals. His personal journey is one of moving from exclusivity and pride toward cooperation and humility.

As a Dragon Caller, Lance is highly proficient in seeing and manipulating Drops, which allows him to form strong partnerships with Monsters and call upon their power in battle. His abilities are well-developed and respected among other Dragon Callers. He is agile and strategic in combat, making him a formidable fighter in his own right. His dragonoid heritage gives him an innate connection to Drops that enhances his capabilities, and he grows even stronger as he learns to work alongside his allies rather than relying solely on his own power.
