Description
Korone Hōouji is a supporting character in Minami Kamakura High School Girls Cycling Club. She is the manager of the bicycle shop Cycle Flat, which is located adjacent to the bakery Flat. Although she is an adult, her extremely short stature and childlike speech and behavior frequently cause others to mistake her for a young girl. She has black hair that reaches waist length and black eyes.
At the start of the series she is absent because she has traveled to Taiwan to attend a bicycle exhibition, establishing her involvement in the cycling world beyond the local community. Her shop quickly becomes an essential resource for the newly formed high school cycling club.
Korone is friendly, approachable, and patient. Despite her youthful demeanor, she is a highly competent adult with deep knowledge of bicycles. She speaks and acts in a playful, somewhat childish manner, but she takes her work seriously and is always willing to share her expertise. She genuinely enjoys cycling and takes pleasure in helping the club members learn and improve.
Her role in the story is primarily that of a mentor and technical advisor. She provides the club with equipment, performs repairs and tuning on their bikes, and offers practical coaching and advice during training and races. Her shop serves as a reliable hub where the girls can seek help and advice.
Korone interacts closely with all the main club members, especially the core group that frequently visits Cycle Flat. She earns their deep trust and admiration through her consistent, dependable support. She also shares a professional rapport with the club advisor, Shiki Mori, as both are knowledgeable adults with a passion for cycling.
While Korone herself does not undergo a major personal transformation over the course of the story, her role as a steadfast supporter remains constant. Her background as a cyclist with international event experience adds credibility to her guidance. She is always present to help the club overcome mechanical setbacks and to encourage their growth as riders.
Her notable abilities include extensive knowledge of bicycle mechanics, components, and fitting. She is highly skilled at repairing and tuning bikes, and she can advise on the selection of appropriate equipment for different riding styles. Her own cycling experience, including participation in events in Taiwan, further reinforces her authority as a source of reliable information and practical help.
