Maa is a main character in the series and is a cheerful and energetic Munchkin cat who lives with her owner, Yuuko Konagai. She was the first of the three anthropomorphic cats to join the Konagai household. Maa has short orange hair, brown or yellow eyes, and usually wears a white dress with black shoes. Her personality is defined by her boundless energy, playful nature, and insatiable curiosity. She often acts as the household's resident troublemaker, stirring up laughter and liveliness through her antics. Maa is highly affectionate and loves to spend time with Yuuko and the other cats. Her motivations revolve around playing, exploring, and enjoying everyday moments with her family. In the story, Maa serves as a source of comic energy and warmth, frequently getting into playful disagreements with the more responsible cat Rou, such as when they argue over what to watch on television. She also mimics Yuuko's actions, like writing and eating snacks, and sometimes gets separated from the group, as seen when she and Elza become lost during a festival. Despite her mischievous side, Maa is loyal and caring toward her friends and owner. She does not possess any special supernatural abilities beyond being a cat that can speak and act like a human. Her development is subtle, mainly reflected in her close bonds with Yuuko, Rou, Shii, and later Azumi and Elza, and in her role in bringing joy to the series' slice-of-life episodes.
