Description
Kyousuke Natsume, founder and leader of the Little Busters, formed the group in childhood alongside Rin Natsume, Kengo Miyazawa, Masato Inohara, and later Riki Naoe. As Rin’s older brother, he harbors a brotherly fixation, persistently urging her to call him "onii-chan"—a request she rebuffs. His leadership blends whimsical impulsiveness with tactical foresight, exemplified by ventures such as launching an inexperienced baseball team to bolster camaraderie and recruit new members.

Standing tall with auburn hair, crimson eyes, and a standard school uniform, he radiates charisma and approachability. His popularity thrives on effortless magnetism, drawing admirers even as he casually reads manga during breaks.

Central to his story is orchestrating an artificial world alongside fellow survivors of a fatal bus crash. This simulated reality loops the group’s final school semester, aiming to fortify Riki and Rin against the trauma of potentially being the sole survivors. Though initially crafted for endless friendship, the loops escalate in intensity to cultivate resilience, inadvertently fraying Rin’s mental state until her collapse in the Refrain arc.

In the original visual novel, he oscillates between the artificial and real worlds to stall the bus explosion. Each shift resets his efforts to seal a gasoline leak, compelling him to sacrifice himself by impaling on a window shard—a reenactment of his death that alters his presence within the simulation. The anime streamlines this by eliminating resets, enabling incremental real-world progress.

His arc paints him as a conflicted mentor. After Riki subconsciously resolves to mature, Kyousuke feigns despondency to spur Riki’s leadership, echoing Riki’s own past vulnerabilities. This strategy culminates in Riki reuniting the disbanded Little Busters and unraveling the artificial world’s truth. In the "true ending," where survivors escape the crash’s aftermath, Kyousuke returns last to school following hospitalization.

Quirks define his persona: vaulting through classroom windows, settling disputes with absurd rules like wielding randomly tossed objects as weapons, and rallying the group with his trademark "Mission Start!"—a mantra cementing his role as their unifying force.

In crossovers like *Kaginado*, he appears in chibi form alongside characters from other series, retaining his core traits as a decisive leader. Broader lore hints at ties to alternate identities, such as Shun Tokikaze from Saya Tokido’s route, subtly expanding his narrative reach.
