Description
Cuza Ackermann is a character from Beyblade Burst God, also known as Beyblade Burst Evolution. He is a young blader who initially represents the German team Top Wand before later transferring to the Spanish team BC Sol. He is always accompanied by his pet cockatoo, a loyal companion named Carl.
In terms of appearance, Cuza is a boy with golden eyes and distinctive black hair that flares outward into spikes, with a yellow section that mirrors the design of his Beyblade's energy layer. He has three light blue triangles painted on his face, one between his eyes and one beneath each eye. His outfit is quite elaborate, consisting of a black jumpsuit with green stripes, a blue vest featuring a cog design on each side, a white scarf, a light blue waist garment reminiscent of a Roman skirt, and light red shoes similar to ballet slippers. He also wears a yellow wristwatch on his right wrist.
Cuza possesses a dual-sided personality that is closely tied to his background as a performer. Having been born to circus-performing parents and having traveled the world from a young age, he grew into a gifted acrobat with exceptional agility, balance, and coordination. In everyday social situations, he is very cheerful and upbeat, sharing a similar energetic and friendly disposition to the protagonist, Valt Aoi. He enjoys putting on shows for audiences and has a clear fondness for animals, demonstrated by his strong bond with his cockatoo, Carl, and his comfort around creatures like snakes that startle others. However, when Cuza steps into the bey stadium, his demeanor changes completely. He becomes cold, serious, and focused, acting as if he barely knows people he had just been friendly with moments before. Once the battle concludes, his usual pleasant nature returns just as quickly. This striking shift in behavior mirrors the two distinct modes of his Beyblade, Alter Cognite, which can switch between Ultra Stamina and Ultra Attack configurations.
Cuza's role in the story begins when he first meets Valt Aoi after Carl steals Valt's Beyblade. The two quickly become friends, with Cuza even teaching Valt some acrobatic moves. He participates as a member of Top Wand in the European League, where he battles Valt and others. After the events involving the mysterious organization the Snake Pit in Mexico, Cuza decides to leave Top Wand on good terms. He later arrives at the BC Sol team base and, after a series of tied battles with teammate Silas Karlisle, officially joins the team, believing it would be fun to battle alongside Valt. As a member of BC Sol, he competes in the World League, which his team ultimately wins. He is later selected as one of three BC Sol bladers to participate in the International Blader's Cup.
His key relationships include his friendship with Valt Aoi, which deepens after he joins BC Sol. He also has a notable connection with the magician blader Clio Delon, whom he has known since childhood. Cuza is deeply afraid of Clio, believing him to be a vampire due to a traumatic experience when they were young after Clio made him the assistant in a magic trick. Despite this fear, Clio appears unaware of Cuza's feelings and has even helped him prepare for tournaments.
Throughout the series, Cuza shows development in his abilities and his understanding of his own Beyblade. He continues to train and refine his unique launch styles and special moves, which are all heavily influenced by his acrobatic skills. His signature techniques include the Backflip Boost, where he launches his Bey while performing a backflip in midair to give it an extra boost of power. The Gravity Boost involves him hanging from a high point or ceiling and dropping down before launching, allowing his Bey to gain significant momentum from the fall. His special moves are designed to take advantage of the stadium environment, such as Tightrope Dive, where Cognite uses the top edge of the stadium to build speed, and Eternity Launch, where the Bey moves slowly along the stadium's edge to drain an opponent's spin.
