Description
Pascal-sensei is the title character and main protagonist of 100% Pascal-sensei, serving as the homeroom teacher of Class 4-1 at Kinoeda Elementary School. He is a mysterious, mole-like creature with yellow coloring, and nearly everything about him is shrouded in mystery. He arrives at the school as the class's new homeroom teacher with little explanation, and even the forest he claims as his hometown is said not to actually exist. A small dog lives inside his body, and he refers to himself in the first person, generally speaking in a polite tone though occasionally slipping into a sloppy or rough manner of speech.
Despite his position as a teacher, he is extremely unintelligent, to the point of being unable to write his own name correctly. He is completely whimsical and does whatever he wants in his classroom, following his own illogical rules instead of any normal curriculum. He typically acts as the foolish comedian of the series, delivering gags that both amuse and bewilder his students. His behavior is chaotic and unpredictable, and his classroom is defined by disorder rather than discipline. His motivations are largely self-centered and impulsive, including a strong pursuit of money and a desire to continue doing as he pleases; his greed is so pronounced that it can physically transform him.
As the central figure of the story, Pascal-sensei is the main source of the comedy and disruption at the school. His key relationships include Hayato Hayakawa, a serious, common-sense boy who serves as his straight man; Chika, a similarly sensible classmate; the muscular and challenge-loving Iwata; Steve Kanamori, a wealthy and egotistical transfer student who frequently competes with him; Hikaru Tachibana, a legendary delinquent; and Kirari Ijuuin, a mysterious transfer student. He also interacts with the school principal, and when he is absent, an old man wearing a Pascal costume substitutes for him.
Pascal-sensei also possesses several notable abilities, most of them tied to transformation. Under certain conditions, such as intense anger, a powerful lust for money, or sneezing, he can transform into Super Pascal, a heightened form comparable to a Super Saiyan. He also has a miniature version called 1% Pascal, who is one-hundredth of his normal size, and he appears in other variations such as a prince, a death god, a tricycle rider, and a fake hero. Another significant part of his story involves Pascal Junior, a one-eyed Pascal-like creature from the moon whom Pascal brings to Earth and treats as his son. Junior progresses through school at remarkable speed, becoming a top student, then a teacher, and eventually principal, which leads Pascal to devise various schemes to dethrone him; the schemes instead cause Junior to multiply and take on many different forms. Through these events, Pascal-sensei repeatedly tries to reclaim his place while remaining thoroughly unchanged in his self-centered, reckless, and endlessly unpredictable nature.
