Description
Beatrice is a young noblewoman and a student at the prestigious Queen's Mayfaire School, who serves as the loyal aide and closest confidante to Princess Charlotte. Her life was permanently altered in childhood by her own father, a scientist who forcibly experimented on her, replacing her natural larynx with a complex, mechanical artificial voice box. This traumatic event, which she conceals behind a large ribbon worn around her neck, left her with a distinctive mechanical voice and the lifelong need to maintain the device herself. This early hardship also made her an outcast among her peers, a situation that only changed when the Princess extended a hand of friendship, earning Beatrice's undying gratitude and fierce loyalty.

Beatrice has a gentle, straightforward, and initially honest personality, though her involvement in espionage forces her to adapt. She is often anxious, timid, and prone to panic, which can make her seem like the most vulnerable member of her team. However, beneath this nervous exterior lies a坚定的 heart; when her friends are in danger, she is capable of showing remarkable courage and resolve. She possesses a deep and somewhat affectionate fondness for machinery, often referring to mechanical devices as if they were alive. This trait is a direct extension of her own mechanical nature and her skill in maintaining her voice box. Her primary motivation is the protection and well-being of Princess Charlotte, whom she serves not just as a maid but as a devoted friend who was rescued from a life of isolation.

Within the story, Beatrice is the amateur spy of the group, initially reluctantly drawn into the world of espionage because of the Princess's own decision to join. She serves as a crucial audience surrogate, her inexperience allowing other characters to explain complex spycraft to her and, by extension, to the viewer. Her main role in missions is to utilize her unique artificial vocal cords to perform voice mimicry, deceiving enemies over communication devices or from behind cover. Her ability is not just a simple gadget; it requires her to memorize and replicate specific voices, a skill she continues to hone.

Her key relationships are central to her character. Her bond with Princess Charlotte is the most significant, built on a foundation of salvation and mutual trust, with Beatrice acting as her unwavering protector. Initially, she was deeply suspicious of the spies Ange and Dorothy, viewing them as dangerous outsiders who would bring harm to the Princess. Over time, through shared missions and a mutual goal to protect Charlotte, she grows to accept and cooperate with them as trusted partners. She also shares a dormitory with the samurai Chise, leading to a humorous and somewhat exasperated friendship, often due to Chise's strong-smelling foods.

Beatrice undergoes significant development from a scared, reluctant civilian into a more capable and reliable member of the spy team. An early turning point involves a mission where Ange forces her to confront her fears, leading to Beatrice accepting her role and proving her value by using her voice to save them. Though she remains the least combat-capable member and her fighting skills are the weakest, she learns to leverage her unique mechanical abilities and even acquires practical espionage skills like lip-reading. Her growth is marked by a transition from viewing her artificial vocal cords solely as a curse to embracing them as a powerful tool that makes her an indispensable part of the team. Her notable abilities include perfect voice mimicry, the capacity to produce sounds beyond the range of human hearing, and a natural talent for understanding and repairing complex mechanical systems.
