Description
Misaki is a supporting character in the anime 18if, known as a famous idol and the center member of the idol group Shark Lady. She entered the entertainment industry after a friend encouraged her to audition, and she rose to prominence quickly, becoming the kind of performer she herself had always admired. However, the pressures of her career are intense. Her public image is tightly controlled under a contractual purity clause, and every aspect of her life is subject to constant media scrutiny. Offstage, she faces bullying from peers, sexual harassment from industry producers, and relentless paparazzi intrusion. These stresses eventually culminate in an attack by a stalker, an event that triggers the Sleeping Beauty Syndrome, a condition that traps her in the dream world.
In the dream world, Misaki transforms into a Witch known for her connection to youth and beauty. This version of her is markedly different from her real‑life persona: she becomes smug, domineering, and takes pleasure in demeaning and humiliating others in ways she cannot in the real world. She adopts a whip as a tool of control, embodying a power fantasy that contrasts sharply with her powerless reality. Her role in the story centers on her focus episode, where Haruto Tsukishiro, the protagonist, enters her dream world and must confront her altered self. Through their interaction, the narrative explores the gap between her public idol persona and her private suffering. Misaki’s relationship with Yurina Kanzaki, another idol, is also significant—she sees Yurina as the ideal she wanted to become. Her development in the episode involves a resolution of the trauma that led to her condition, allowing her to eventually wake from the dream world. As a Witch, her notable abilities include the power to impose her will in the dream realm, manifested through her commanding presence and physical dominance.
